Has anyone tried adopting an M4-style 3-point sling to a PLR-16? If this worked, I might make the PLR my carry gun.

Same as yours, most likely--reading about it on the Internet. But I plan to get one as my next gun purchase. I write books and try to buy a gun with each big advance or royalty check as sort of a keepsake. I have one of each coming late this winter and definitely plan on getting a PLR and maybe a 6.8 upper for my AR (or maybe just pay off my pickup).

From what I've read, and from personal experience with Kel-Tec products, I believe the PLR is the only completely reliable .233-caliber pistol on the market, at least out of the box. I've never seen a Stoner-type pistol that was reliable out of the box, and in fact have never seen a reliable AR pistol with my own eyes. The ones I've seen at various ranges are all troublesome jam-O-matics, but I've read about people making them reliable after dumping some money into them. By the same token, I've never heard of a single instance of the PLR jamming.

I'm serious about carrying the PLR. I plan to buy one primarily as a truck gun, but am thinking about the 3-point sling option for carrying it on motorcycle. I used to love to ride dirtbike around my dad's farm and hunt gophers with a handgun. The PLR strikes me as an epic gopher slayer.

Lobotomy Boy,

My 650 dollar franken AR Pistol(RR receiver and M1 sales kit) has never jammed, never misfired, and is as reliable as the day is long ...But then again, I didn't go for the absurdly short, loud, weak, and flashy 7" barrel, while choosing to run a carbine length buffer tube on the back in stead of the cute little ones. Sure that makes it a lot less "pistol-like", but it also makes it a helluva lot more stable to blast with, while giving it the minimal barrel I feel comfortable shooting 5.56 out of. I consider my AR 15 pistol to be an MP5 on steroids, and if it ever gets cold enough down here(last year it did), then I plan to carry it under a trench coat with my Glock 23:evil: :neener: !!!

Still 2 Many Choices

I can't picture how you would work a 3 point sling on a PLR but I did make a 2 point sling for mine. It works very well and could be easily used for a carry gun with a coat but I don't know that I would want to. I also would not want to fire the PLR 16 without ear plugs as it is very loud. I will agree witht ehreliability of the PLR. I have over 1K in rounds through mine without a single malfunction.

I had a AR15 pistol for a while and it just didn't end up doing anything for me.

I may end up having to try one of the PLR-16's down the road, it looks like a fun gun and seems to be pretty accurate from what I've read on line

I've had my plr-16 for about a month. Few hundred rounds through it. Got a kel-tec forend, muzzle break, and sling. Using CProducts 30rd mags with magpul followers. Also has a Tasco 42mm Red Dot that holds zero great for $25. Not a FTF or FTE yet. FUN!!!

I would love to...

I just need to get home and transfer some pics to a different computer to upload here. I'll try to do that sometime Thursday(I won't do it on my work computer:uhoh: , but happy to do it:) )...

Still 2 Many Choices!?

Thanks S2MC. I'm looking forward to seeing your rig. I built an AR and went a slightly non-standard route myself.

Heres My Pistols

Rock River lower Reciever, Model 1 Sales kit, M33 forend(First Saamco), Scorpion Flashlight(First Saamco mount), and BSA red dot that I got fairly cheap. I also rigged a sling that works quite effectively from some luggage straps, and a few odds and ends:eek: !

My Glock 23 is in there for comparison with 50 rounds shown, and the AR-Pistol has 120 shown. Now that makes for one helluva man portable, and heavy hitting package:) .

Whoops!

I forgot to comment on the funky(but kinda cool though) hue of the pistol. No it really isn't that color. I could not transfer the images that I had touched up the quality on to a cd like I wanted to for uploading, so I had to use the cameras night shot feature to get a better image. The odd appearance of the firearm is what happened when the infrared light hit the receiver:confused: ... I took a picture with my M4gery and the AR-Pistol, just to see if they both did this, and it looked so cool that now I want two just like the image:banghead: !!!

I don't like the one point sling.
My two point works good (M1 Carbine sling).
I don't know about a three point.

Beyond just for carry it makes a good shooting sling.

Definitely helps the accuracy.

Without the sling.

With the sling.

"I want one".

The PLR is by far the most interesting, fun gun I've bought in a long time.:)

I even make a ultra light 55gr FMJBT 1,000fps load for plinking in the back yard.
