Read some of the older threads but would like a lil more advice.

I'd like to get a thrower. Right now I have a hand model and its a bet which way the clay is gonna go each time. I don't need anything fancy just something that will throw a decent bird each time. There is a wide range I have seen. This probably wont be used a ton but who knows. Price is a factor to a point. Whats out there?

You may have seen this from another thread, but I got this setup for $55 from a local sporting clays course which was swapping out some equipment. I got it mostly for the base, even though the thrower functions fine.

If you check out the Cabelas web site, you'll find lots of throwers. Take some time looking at them and their descriptions, then decide how much you want to spend. Personally, I'd want something which throws doubles, and has enough adjustment that you can change the elevation and the pitch (to get them to curl to one side or the other).

I have this one...The "Clay Hawk" from Do All traps...

It stands as high as a car jack stand, and throws like a demon

I was looking at the Hawk. Seems to be about what I'm after.

How do you like it.

I just got a Trius One-Step for around 90$ after hearing great things about it. Seems solid so far. I don't know if 90$ is a bit rich for what you're after, but it seems to be a great thrower.

The best thing about it, as far as I'm concerned, is the ability to launch clays with your foot. You can then shoot by yourself if you need to. Also, you're not loading clays under tension, as the tension happens when you step on the pedal, so it's got that extra "safe" feature...

Sorry for sounding like a commercial... :p
