Mini range report

This is a sweet shooting pistol! I'm a happy camper for sure. :D It is extremely tight though and still needs to be broken in which gives me an excuse to shoot 500rds. :D:D Trigger is smooth and crisp and the pistol just feels nice in my hand. I'll get it broken in fully then give a more thorough report. I must add I received it with only 50rds through it so I get to experience the break-in period which I think is pretty cool.

WOW!

Geeze. I am speechless. Brad is one cool customer. He is one of the good ones that allows me the time I think I need to finish a gun. No pressure or deadlines. That usually allows me the time to make a nice one. Not that they all aren't nice, they are. I just seem to enjoy building the ones without a deadline better. I do have a couple more pics of that gun that I am going to post with more of a "gunsmith" view. Not that my pics are any better. Just more of a marketing slant.
Again, thanks for the kind words. Titanium has become unobtainium. If anyone is thinking of a Ti project, NOW is the time. I just sent back 3 Ti frames to Caspian that were not spoken for and I don't know if they still have them or any others left. You can contact me for availability if you want, but they may be all gone at this point. I did have one 10MM build set for sale, but it has been tentatively sold:scrutiny:
Anyway, enjoy Brad and KUDOS to one of the best forums on the net.

Jess

Hope that shows some of the features you are asking about. This gun is just pure sexy in a industrial tool kinda way.

By the way, there is no "finish" on the gun. We went with naked metal and a satin media blast, along with the high polished flats. Then all it needs if it gets a booboo is another media blast.

Very nice. Out of curiousity, what purpose does a bobtail serve? Is it just an aesthetic thing, or is there an actual purpose? In any case, it looks cool.

I'll buy the ammo, and lunch, and drinks, and wimmin,

Wait... you can buy wimmin in CT?

I know envy is wrong, but I envy Brad. If I knew him I'd start a vicious rumor:what::D

Absolutely beautiful pistol, if I were talented enough to build such a pistol I'd be constantly broke because I'd want to keep everyone of those I built.

I think the bobtail gives the 1911 a better fit to hand by allowing the heal of your hand that little extra space when taking up the grip. When you close your hand, the bottom part of the heal of your hand (directly proximal to your pinky) sticks out from the depression in your palm. The bobtailed back strap gives contours to your hand. Besides looking cool I think it improves the grip and feel.

The bobtail does a couple of things. It allows for less "printing" when carrying the gun. The tail end does not poke out from the holster like a normal grip does. Also, some people find the bobtail more pleasing to the hand. It does not dig into the heal of your hand like the normal grip does. Makes for more comfortable grip and shooting. Also, I find that the bobtail allows the gun to come to point more naturally. You just raise it to eye level and it is there. You don't have to shift your grip or rock your hand forward to level the gun like you do with a conventional 1911 grip. It is really one of those love it or hate it things. I would suggest that you go to a local gun shop and handle one of the Ed Brown bobtails or a DW before deciding to get this done. It is about one of the coolest mods for the 1911 to come along.
