IS the Tikka T3 as good as the advertising department at Tikka Says. I am in the market for a rifle and have seen one a 30-06 tikka lite for 500 dollars. Is it worth the price or should I look at a different rifle. I haven't seen much on the Tikka T3 and want peoples opinions

Yes. 2 of my friends bought new ones this fall and I had the opoortunity to shoot both. I was very very impressed with the T3s. The actions are very slick and the rifles both shot moa or less righ out of the box with cheap factory ammo.

Yes

While they only have one action size, large, and short action cartridges use a spacer or block in the mag, they are very good for the price. They use the same barrels as the Sako rifles, so you know that the barrel is high quality.

I am very happy with mine.

The only problem is that all Tikkas are built on a long action. I don't think this matters much from a practical standpoint, but its a little cheesy to have a long action 308.

My Tikka T3 Is chambered in 223.

Shoots very well, Smooth action.
I will buy another one soon.

My T3 varmint in .308 Win is great. It shoots at or under .5moa all day long. Action is amazing, quality is good...not amazing, but if you want to hunt/target shoot its fine.

If you scroll up toward the top of this page, you'll see "Search". Click on it and key in "Tikka" and you'll find much about Tikkas.

I have a T3 Tactical.

I am a horrible shot, but with a Tasco super sniper scope I am getting 1" at 100 yards using wolf gold.
okay more or less 1". like i said i'm a crappy shot and i'm using only a harris bipod for support.

Are they worth it? Definitely. Very well made, very attractive, and less expensive per subjective unit of quality (sadly enough) compared to pretty much any other new bolt action gun on the market, I'd say.

At $500, jump on it - quickly. That's only a little more than I bought my wood stocked version for 3 years ago used ($470 after tax IIRC) and they've gone up $80.

Oh yeah, and I can shoot a 5-shot jagged hole with my .270 winchester T3 using 150 grain -whatevers- at 100 yards using a cheap Bushnell variable (80$ I think, 3-9x). Yeah, that's with different ammo types - AE, Federal, Winchester, Remington, etc. The point of impact changes a bit, but the hole pattern, not really.

Tikka T3 for 500 dollars. You lucky b#¤"=?¤d. Here in Sweden They cost about 1800 dollars. They make them in our nieghbouring country. Funny world aint it:cuss:)

A quick trip with the SEARCH function will turn up a wealth of threads on the Tikka line of rifles.

My T3 in 300 WSM is quite accurate....<1" groups consistently with my handloads of 165 gr SST over IMR 4064. The trigger is awesome and the action is smooth.

I bought mine for <$400 used from a guy who put a total of 17 rounds down the tube.

???! the standard t3 model costs 1800 in sweden? yikes! why so much? is it because you didn't send enough volunteers during Talvisota? :neener:

anyway, anything made in Finland is very very good. Remember, they are the country that made the clunky russian mosin-nagant into a fine rifle worthy of competing with the likes of 6.5 Swedish Mausers.

Cyclo;

Jump on it a $500.00! The local emporiums think they're worth about $100.00 more than that for syn/blue. Stainless/syns go for $630.00.

If I could find a Tikka LHB in 6.5 Swede I'd be on it soooo fast.

I really like my T3 30-06. It shoot 1" groups at 100 with most ammo and when I am shooting well (a bad day with my rifle is 1.5" groups.) Action is very smooth and surprisingly the recoil is not all that bad with such a light rifle. At 500, grab it.

I like my Tikka T3 Lite ( with SS 10x scope ). It shoots better than I do.
and a very nice out of the box trigger.

I purchased a Tikka T3 Tactical in .308 about 2 months ago. Excellent rifle. My last time at the range, I shot 10 rounds in a row all within one inch at 100yds.

I have it's predecessor, the 695 (mine's a heavy barrel). Wonderful wonderful rifle. Awesome action, great trigger, very very accurate. One of the best "for the dollar" purchases I've ever made. Paid $450 for the thing NIB. It was at one of those shops where the patronage just wouldn't buy anything that didn't say "Remington" or "Winchester." The owner was tired of looking at it in his case.

Needless to say, I was all over that. And have been very very happy with the rifle.

I have a t-3 in 7mm rem mag. Handloads get me sub moa @ 200. Great gun, now if MD had more rifle territory for deer it would pay off-

thanks for all the replies. I am getting the rifle. The Tikka is a 30-06 in stainless steel. I have the rifle on layaway and am getting it for christmas:):)

Thanks for all the replies it makes this an easy choice. FYI I have owned rugers and remingtons in the past but have never owned a Tikka.

I've been wanting a bolt action rifle for a few yrs now and was looking for one of the Tikka Whitetail Hunters with the nice wood, etc. Kind of gave up on it as I pursued other things until I noticed a nice used T3 with the wood stock in 270 cal for $399 the other day. Problem is I don't really want a 270, but the price is good. Seems like you always come across things like this when you are not in the market.

FF, that is the cheek piece that comes with the varmint models. Only thing I would change about mine(Varmint in 223) is of course the cost of the magazines.
