In case anyone is interested, I just received my Florida non-resident CCW permit. The time from dropping the application is the mailbox in California to receiving the license in my mailbox was 54 days.

Umm, I thought the non-resident permit permitted you to carry everywhere that a FL permit is accepted, which is quite a few places.

It does in all states except Michigan and New Hampshire.

It is good in other states, but I was trying to get the original poster to state why he applied for the non resident permit.
I wanted him to answer in his own words as I have seen people misinformed about CCW permits to where they thought non resident permits allowed them to carry in their own non issue states.
Not saying this was the case but was curious.
We are all so quick on the key board.

Non-resident from Floriduh, which is recognized in over 20 states, is a great idear for those of us in states where we recognize everyone, but hardly any return the favor (gee, what a surprise, we get the short end of the stick and have to pull the wagon--shocking). For example, for me it allows me to be legal in Tejas, even without wearing elf boots.

I am not a resident of Florida but have obtained my permit from there so I can carry in the states that my Arizona permit doesnt cover.
I am neither a resident of Florida or Arizona but am a resident of Ohio.

it makes more sence for me to get the florida permit than a PA permit. The florida permit is good everywhere the PA permit is and more

I would like to read the staute or regulation that establishes the asserted rule. I have been told otherwise, but I would be grateful to anyone who can cite me a statute or reg on the issue.
Perhaps you are assuming the Fla non-res permit is valid only to carry in Fla. I do not think that is the case.
From what I have read on packing.org and the sites of various states, about 21 states grant reciprocal rights to holders of Florida non-res permits. A couple more (Michigan and N.H.) recognize only Fla. res permits, but the states who recognize non-res permits do not seem to care if you have EVER been to Fla so long as you have the Fla non-res permit.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I just had a really eeeeevil thought....what if the fed.gov passed a national reciprocity bill?* Imagine how the anti's would squirm! I am getting goose-bumps just thinking about it.

I did the non-res FL to allow myself carry in states my res doesn't. Interesting deal is many in my state have only the non-res FL, it is NOT flagged on DL as our resident ticket is.
Weird deal was I was legal in FL with my resident...not legal in states b/t my state and FL...I can travel and be legal from get-go to arrival in FL now. Hence the reason many AR residents buy the FL , they travel these states ( not on AR res) in business ,en'route to vacation...wise use of monies IMO.
I just need to continue with obtaining more...non-res...go for the whole set as they say.

I don't visit Florida often, maybe once every three years, but do visit several of the 22 states that honor a Florida non-resident permit. I do realize where the permit is recognized and realize that California is not one of those places.
