The stranglehold of St. Louis and KC over the rest of the state has been broken, and Missouri has concealed carry now. Part of the recent CCW bill made it legal to carry a loaded gun concealed in one's vehicle (sans permit). As I live in St. Louis County, which won't issue permits (yet) and I'm afraid my Model 19 is too big for concealment, I may start keeping it in my '89 GMC full-size pick-up. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? Is it even a good idea?

Ya got a center console...on my 90 Chev 3/4 ton the center console has a drinkholder insert in the front that lifts right out, perfect for a S&W

My old '89 GMC Sierra has the 60/40 seats. A short barreled handgun fit's snuggly between the seats.

Suggestion:
Keep it anywhere in the truck that's accessable while you're in it. Bolt a lockbox to the floor, under the seat if possible. When you have to leave it in the truck, lock it in the box to prevent it falling into the wrong hands.

I've got a holster mounted low on the left side of the seat with a Ruger Security Six. Another Security six in the glove box.

Same thing in my cars with different pistols by the driver's seat and one or two pistols elsewhere in the cars.

Also a rifle in each vehicle.

I'm more concerned about being able to grab the guns fast than someone breaking in my vehicles.

I want my weapons accessable to me when I'm in the vehicle. If I leave a gun in the vehicle when I'm away, you can bet it will be secured in some manner. Auto breakins are a common occurence these days, and I have no intention of providing a gun for some scumbag.

The folded up jump seat behind the passenger seat of an extended cab truck works, you can reach it from the driver's seat, and what thief would fold down the jumpseat looking for anything?
