that seems pretty high 25,000
What is the gun worth ? does anybody know

Having been stationed in Germany and actually been to Berchtesgarten......

Sure, some guy paid $500 for it from a another guy who said he took it from Old Adolf's gun safe at "Berchus Garden". Yep, I'm buyin' that story........

P.T. Barnum was all wet, there isn't a sucker born every minute......there's thousands of 'em.....

Bluebook lists a couple of Sauer SxS's with breathtaking numbers but I couldn't even guess if the one listed is one of 'em.

BS!
All German words, even "Berchtesgaden" totally wrong. If this were real, it would be sold by an auction house of reputation.

BTW, this gun has black powder proofmarks, hard to believe Hitler would have shot an old black powder gun.

Normal price would be like this:
http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976226712.htm
or less.

No mention at all of provenance priving ownership by Hitler.

So, it's worth maybe $1000.

If there was solid provenance for this you'd think it would be mentioned in the ad huh?

That would take a letter from one of the 101st Airborne Division troopers that were
the first Allies to arrive there. And, if it was Hitlers personal weapon, it would have had
to come from the Eagle's Nest. That narrows it down to a very small number of people
that had access to where this would have been stored. Many of them are still alive, and they
even had a movie made about them, "Band of Brothers."

If there was such a thing, it would be mentioned.

That "hawk" (Habicht) looks like a chicken with 'rhiods. :D I doubt hitler would have owned such a plain shotgun. Yes, it's a Sauer, but it looks like a entry grade gun to me, like a basic LC Smith. Solid, dependable, but hardly the top grade fowling piece one would expect him to own. With no documentation, I'd say nice $500-1000 German 16 ga. SxS, but nothing more.

You are bidding on an antique J.P. Sauer & Sohn 16 Gauge Double Side by Side shotgun!

This firearm was taken from Hitler's Berchus Gardens
in the 1940's...read below!

This special gun is being offered here on Gunbroker.com for the first time. We are excited about offering it here!

History behind the gun
Our client contacted us to discuss selling an antique Sauer 16 Gauge shotgun that was obtained from Adolf Hitler's Berchus Gardens after World War II. He purchased the gun in 1946 for $500 from a gentleman who was involved in the raid at Berchus Gardens. Our client has owned the gun since then, almost 60 years!

About 20 years ago, our client took pictures of the gun along with him to a gun show in Pennsylvania. He was offered $100,000 and turned it down. Here is your opportunity to own a truly unique piece of history!

Markings:

J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl

Special Gewehr Lhui

Stahl

Fried Krupp A u

Essen

JP Sauer & Soh V Schl

Lauer

There is a picture of an eagle, around it is marked D.R.W.Z. Habict.

Serial number is 344257. Where the serial number is marked, there are two "S" markings with what appears to be a sunburst picture.

This is a working firearm.

No mention of any letters of authenification or affidavits or anything other than an old tale.... Hm.
