Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

You had me at gems!:)
That is awesome! I have been thinking of taking the kids to Arkansas to the diamond field to play a bit. I have an old lead crystal diamond paper weight I thought of hiding in the overburden there and having them “find” it. Cut and everything.;)

I love garnets. I only have one. A Tsavorite Garnet. I like green. The rest are Emerald. One Amethyst and a diamond.

Mostly worthless. But to my boy, I am a pirate. I wooed princesses while my men plundered their ship. We have booty. And I am teaching him to find his own, even if it isn’t stones and metal.

Under the Pirates Code, of course. :)

Amazing what a divorce, fifty bucks and the internet can get you!

What? Don’t you have the “Original Declaration of Independence, wrapped in red nylon ribbon?

I got mine from Washington’s great grandson’s half cousin’s uncles nephew’s granddaughter...:D

For safe keeping. Things have been getting crazy out there.

It’s all fun now, but he’s learning it...

Went tent camping over the weekend up in the Idaho mountains and brought the G29 and my AR in .450 Bushmaster. Found a great spot next to Emerald Creek and right next to a large Thimbleberry patch.

My girlfriend is from California and couldn't believe we didn't have to make reservations months in advance or pay any fees in order to camp.

Did some panning for gold, but only one speck of gold and tons of garnets (hence the name, Emerald Creek...)

Looks like to much fun!!
Two things you can't have to much fun and to much money!!!

Well you didn't get the gold this time! Maybe next time! It has to be fun trying :)
I'm not a big AR guy, but that 450 looks nice!

Clever... Haul SxS in trailer then put tent in trailer, level and off the ground.

Always wanted to pan for gold....

The tent is an actual pickup-bed tent designed for a full-size pickup with an 8' bed. I searched quite a bit for a regular tent that had the door on the end that would work in my trailer, but couldn't find anything. Finally realized I could use a pickup-bed tent and ordered one. It works well. It's nice knowing I will have a perfectly flat surface to put the tent on and have some protection against critters with the 3' steel sides.

I first started panning for gold when I lived near Prescott, AZ and it was fun. Had a local show me the ropes and best places to try my luck and was able to consistently get color in my pan. Moved up to Idaho and have panned in a few different areas with usually nothing to show for my efforts.

The USFS has an official dig area about a half mile from where I camped for digging garnets. Apparently, you just dig into the ground and find nice-sized garnets. My folks used to camp in this area back in the 70's and just dug in random areas along the stream and have a coffee can full of garnets from dime-sized up to quarter-sized.

I wanted to take my girlfriend to the USFS dig site, but it was closed due to Covid-19. Apparently being in the outdoors and digging in the dirt away from other people is high-risk according to the government.

Somehow, a dog tearing me to pieces is less scary than a horse stepping on me.
I want to like them so much, but I always get the smart one. Not in a good way. They treat me like a human. Dogs treat you like you read them, they treat me like any other dog.:)

WisBorn
Mainly because they're kind of like dogs...only bigger.

That’s what I’m saying!
“Come riding!”
I say “okay”.
I can see the horse says “Muhahahahaaaa!”
So I say “ Nope ”.
“It will be fine.” They say.
So I rolled backwards when he launched me like ten feet, and landed like a ninja in Tiger stance. Totally, completely by luck and fear, and by God’s grace unhurt and hoping I hadn’t peed myself.

“What are you doing?!”

“Just getting down.” I said, needing a drink and a Gator ride back.

Besides, I don’t have any cool single action revolvers to take with me.;)

Oh shoot! Do you think the horse knew?!

I carried what I always do, a 4 5/8" Super Blackhawk loaded with "Skeeter" .44 Special loads of 7.5 grains of unique and a 245 grain SWC.
I carried it in a El Paso Saddlery threepersons holster.

Three timeless classics...a Ruger Super Blackhawk loaded with Skeeter's .44 Special loads, toted along in a Tom Threepersons designed holster from El Paso Saddlery!

Doesn't get any better than that!

Oooops! I got off track and forgot to post what I came here for. The wife and I just cam back from a walk down our road in the bush of Western Kentucky. She carried my Smith and Wesson first year model 60 and I carried my Glock 43. Ever now and then you got to look out for 2 legged vermin but for the most part it’s the no legged copperheads that are the biggest threat.

Another plus with this rig is the American Holly grips by Private Schultz.
If I recall correctly, you're a fan of those as well.
Glad we were able to get them before he hung it up.

You're so right...Private Schultz's American Holly grips could rightfully be considered classics as well. Would have loved to have had them on a couple of my other Rugers too!

Me in my younger days
Three times cooler than I’ll ever be...:D

Took the boat out of the lake. We have a friend that lets us keep it there every once in a while.

I caught no fish. :(
But, I do get to replace the trim motor. :(

Still, it’s good to go hang out with my dad, doing something that isn’t work.:)

The lake was great. Bad fishing is still pretty good.

My Keltec got wet.

A little wash out at the Lake Man Cave.

I’ll switch out the ammunition tonight and put some fresh wax on her. She’ll be fine.
I’ll have a magazine’s worth to shoot this weekend!

Sweet shrooms, @WisBorn! Super don’t eat those either!;)

I need you and @Armored farmer to help me with the mushrooms. Farmer finds those morels (spelling?) And teases use with pictures of them next to nice firearms!

How do you like the little Keltec?

How do you like the little Keltec?

I love it.

My first poly. It disappears when slipped into my pocket. Shoots better than my Sig P938, right to Point Of AIM with a center hold.
And is American made!
A gun in hand is worth two in a truck.

The ammunition is ridiculously expensive for such a little amount of material. I’ll probably load for it soon enough because it is actually so fun to shoot.

I’ve been thinking of getting another, so I can flog this one to death at the range. (In a nice way! I really like it.:))

Carrying carrots and apples today!

Why do horses leave you with a good feeling inside ;)
Nope nope nope nope........
My neighbors have horses, and there are lions around the corner and down the street a bit.
I feel the same way about both species- as long as they stay on the other side of the fence, we will get along just fine, lol. :)

I have a LCP2 and love it for the the same reason. I have heard that the 380 Keltecs shoot. They are inexpensive enough that you can own 2 or 3 and small enough to carry more than one!
