todays lunch room talk...

Modern society now allows these 2 legged sheep to live long fat lives and perpetuate this genetic flaw. We are rapidly evolving into two separate species. The original group, homo sapiens. And the offshoot that parasitically exists at the expense of the intelligent that I call homo stupidicus.
This is the funniest thing I think I've ever read on this site! Flip side: One of the truest and unfortunate one as well...

You ought to see the edge of my town during opening day of dove season. Every field and every orchard is lined with people holding loaded weapons..... right up to the edge of all the roadways where people drive by in amazement.

the blissninny in question said:
He was inquiring wether this could possibly be legal and expressed how insecure this made him feel, that someone could just walk up to his house with a "loaded rifle" and shoot him.

{Archie Bunker voice} Would you feel better if the someone came to your house and threw you out a window? {/Archie Bunker voice}

If only we could convert stupidity into gasoline.... :D

SSN Vet,

Sounds like you did a good job to be calm and reasonable.

It's too bad you didn't use made up words like "sheeple" and call his opinion typically stupid. That would have really helped convert him.

I know, I know. Those dastardly antis can't be converted. Certainly none of us were ever on the fence or helped change the mind of a friend.

Sure would be nice to get people used to seeing guns again.
Y'all need to move here. I see people post here about "back when folks had gunracks in their pickups." They still do here. But I live in Graham County, the former home of former Sheriff Richard Mack.:D

When we talk about guns in our lunch room, it is always positive in nature. But my college actually offers the CCW course as a 1 credit class, and even the liberals that I work with are generally pro-gun liberals (at least in terms of hunting rifles).

People Used To Seeing Guns Again . . .

I recall seeing a video recently, shot in Israel, that showed, among other things, young men off duty strolling down the street with rifles slung across their backs.

At one point a lad of perhaps 19 years, rifle and all, hitches a ride on the highway. Has his thumb out, civilian driver pulls over, kid hops in.

Other scenes show youngsters, both guys and gals, at coffee shops, strolling the boulevard, and so on, with slung rifles and the occasional sidearm.

Just part of the scenery.

Man, if we could get that kind of nonchalance going in my town.
Show up for breakfast without your rifle:
Girl at the counter: "Sir, did you forget something?"
Customer: "Oh, sorry, it's in the shop having new sights put on. Got my XD, though."
Girl at the counter: "Oh, right then, what can I get for you?"
* Wistful sigh *

You should express consternation that someone driving one of those newfangled "horseless carriages" could actually DRIVE UP ONTO THE SIDEWALK AND KILL SOMEBODY; for some reason, they have this logical disconnect where they're happy to trust someone with ONE potentially lethal item, but not another.

Having grown up in California, exclusively, my dad was a little shocked the other day. He rode his motorcycle into Yuma, AZ, and was surprised to see so many people with guns on the hip. Not appalled or concerned, just shocked.

I told him that we should move there.

my dad just to go to his buddies house, see and see if he wanted to go hunting. he walked back to his house, grabbed his hsotgun and threw a towel over it, and walked form his hosue to the woods. he never had a problem with anyone. sure the fact he was carrying an ammobelt might have also made people stay away...:evil:

Who were the parents of this generation of blissninnys? Talking to my Dad and Grandpa it sounds like back in the day you'd be one seriously odd individual if you didn't grab your .22 after school (GRADE school) and go hunting critters with all the other kids.

didn't realize....

this thread gained any steam....

The guy who made these comments to me is actually a very nice guy.....above average inteligence......

We've had a lot of conversations when I accompany him to customer site visits and I've seen his views on other topics "evolve" over the years.....

giving it some thought...I think he's just plain scared to death of guns.

the only exposure he's had to firearms is what the media (surely they have no bias :rolleyes:) has spoon fed him for 30 years.

I honestly think that if he came to the range with me, and I taught him how to safely handle and shoot a gun (any gun) without ridiculing his lack of knowledge or experience, he'd quickly come around in his thinking.....
