People Used To Seeing Guns Again . . .
I recall seeing a video recently, shot in Israel, that showed, among other things, young men off duty strolling down the street with rifles slung across their backs.
At one point a lad of perhaps 19 years, rifle and all, hitches a ride on the highway. Has his thumb out, civilian driver pulls over, kid hops in.
Other scenes show youngsters, both guys and gals, at coffee shops, strolling the boulevard, and so on, with slung rifles and the occasional sidearm.
Just part of the scenery.
Man, if we could get that kind of nonchalance going in my town.
Show up for breakfast without your rifle:
Girl at the counter: "Sir, did you forget something?"
Customer: "Oh, sorry, it's in the shop having new sights put on. Got my XD, though."
Girl at the counter: "Oh, right then, what can I get for you?"
* Wistful sigh *
