The first time I ever saw a cop hit his lights just to run a red light because he was tired of waiting when there was no crossing traffic, it was in San Jose.

Gimme a break. Man up or quit crying. Seriously.
See Jim, cops are your friends. Sorry it took you so long to realize it. Didn't you see the video after Katrina of the sheriff's deputies driving around, shooting dogs? You sound like an old timer. People my age, we grew up knowing cops are like this, and thus are not so shocked and heartbroken when they push around the little people.
PS My mom is a nice, middle aged lady. The only time in her entire life when she said, "F_U_, you b_ch" was to a Walnut Creek police officer, once it became clear the cop was harassing my brother for no reason other than harassing him. The best part was, the cop didn't do a damned thing to my mom. You shouldn't fear anything about posting more about it on the Internet.
PPS the first time in my life I ever met a cop was when I was eight years old, coming home from a San Francisco Giants game. My mom couldn't find the on-ramp to the freeway, so she decided to ask some SFPD motorcycle cops for directions. See, she grew up in your era, when cops were just friendly folks who would help you out if you asked. Know what they said, to a nice woman just asking for directions? "What's a matter, can't you read the signs? Are you stupid?"
When the anti's finally outlaw our guns, these friendly cops will be the ones enforcing it. Katrina was the preview.
And now, I'm just waiting for Art Eatman to lock this thread.
