But how come no one was the "Charlie's Angels" Stance?
That's when you hold the gun in one hand while the other hand executes a death grip on the other arm about three inches above the wrist.

The one they call a "High Sabrina" after Kate Jackson's character?

I saw a few episodes a few years ago when they were on TVLand.:scrutiny: Not only do they not know how to shoot, they don't know how to fight either.:uhoh: They don't know the USMC rules of gunfighting, i.e., bring a gun, brings friends with guns, etc. etc.

Hey what's up WAZX3DRVR? I was sure I'd find you on one of these gun boards. I still owe ya a beer for making all them importmix kids look stupid when it comes to gun ownership and politics.

So Heidi tells me yesterday that for Christmas she wants a gun. Any recommendations for a first gun? She says she wants a pistol and i'm not going to argue with her, you guys know how women are. I was thinkin maybe a makarov or something else under $100.

Sounds good Joey.....I'd love to get together next time you're in WA.:)

Look me up if you have time when you're up here next.

get her an feg pa63 or makarov

make sure you get the 380 conversion unless she likes a little snap to her pistols. My pa63 was quite nasty when I got it in 9x18. i converted it both for recoil and a "normal" cartridge that has some variety.

and tell her friend she needs to move to SC ;)

Under $100? Are you serious? :scrutiny: If somebody gave me a Makarov I'd be insulted. :cuss: In the photo she was shooting your SIG .40- that's a much better pistol and much higher priced. She's smart enough to like and want a gun; you think she won't be able to tell the difference later if not right then?

If we were neighbors, I'd have to introduce her to 1911's. :D

Or, if she's not picky about caliber, there's Ruger 22/45. .22LR semi-auto, 10rd mags (two included with the gun, extras for about $18-20 apeice). I'd advise to get the 5.5" bull barrel and adjustable sights. About $200 in my part of the country. In my experience, it's a good accurate dependable peice and about $.02/rd it's a lot cheaper to shoot than 9x18, 9mm Luger, and .380acp.:D

First post, third pic, and second post, fourth pic: What IS that stance, and why does it seem to be a (new shooter) female instinct? Straight legs, one foot forward, upper body back as far as it will go...it's counterintuitive. Seems to me that if I'm afraid of being knocked over, I wouldn't position my body to make it easier to get knocked over.

But wait--I'm trying to use logic where females are concerned. My bad.

Good job, though. You lucky guy, you. :D

.380 conversion for the Mak? I've never seen that. I'm actually thinkin I'm gonna get her a Star B/BM 9mm.

I really wish I had more money to spend, and I really really wish I could afford to get her a SIG.

If you go over to http://www.battlerifles.com and ask around, there some that'll tell you a Star B or B Super is a good shooting peice. They're about like a 1911 except no grip safety. I'd get one myself if I could currently find the price right around my part of the country. SOG did have 'em. Sounded like a good deal for a 9mm and you can find surplus ammo pretty cheap.

I too have noticed that every single of one of the 5 or 6 girls I've taken shooting for the first time has adopted that stance. One decided to shoot my M-44 from a crouched stance as equally as "balanced" as the first-time-female standing version; she promptly ended up on her rear in the dirt. I'll have to ask one next time why they're standing like that.

Don't be bad mouthin' the Mak! Cheap, 100% reliable, accurate and 9x18 a bit hotter than .380. Something like 23 moving parts IIRC. Had a nice East German that I let go for $200. Saw a Bulgie today for $169 at a shop. Check out makarov.com.

Wifey liked the G 27 she handled today:$600. Remington now has a Wally World Value Pack of 9mm HP's. Haven't had a chance to shoot 'em yet, but hardly worth reloading 9mm's now. Star Model B supposed to be a good piece, no personal experience.

Stay safe.
Bob

I've got to agree on the Mak. I have a Russian and EG. Both are great shooters and the recoil won't scare off a novice shooter.

Just out of curiosity, how expensive is the AK to feed? How much is 7.62 anyway, and what quantities do they normally sell it in? I've never own a semi-auto rifle.

Now lever guns, that's another story. :D

If you get the Russian made Wolf ammo, you could get 1000 rounds of 7.62 for less than $80.00 It's a pretty cheap gun to feed. Of course, you'd go through rounds quicker than a handgun but the fun factor makes up for it.

On Wolf ammo, it's steel cased and laquer coated. I've heard it's the dirtiest burning stuff on the market except maybe Barnaul. But, on the upside, the Russians made/make their ammo so it could be submerged in salt water for six months as still light up. Considering that the Russians chambered the AKs to looser tolerances than US service rifles, the laquer and the excess powder fouling wouldn't seem to be such a problem.

I won't shoot it in my US rifles, but if you have an AK you may as well go for it. Russian rifle, Russian ammo.

I can attest to the Wolf being very dirty. It leaves more metallic residue than you'd like and the smell sucks!
