After a mind-boggling amount of research, I purchased a new Glock 23 on New Year's Eve of last year. I had owned my Kahr CW9 for several months but was craving something with a bit more "oomph". I slapped down the cash, filled out the forms, and walked out with a huge grin on my face.
All went well until I got serious about regular practice sessions. I broke my right hand a few years back and every time I would shoot more than about 50 rounds my hand would give me fits for about a day and a half. If I attempted any form of "rapid fire" then I felt as though the pistol were trying to jump out of my hand. Not only would my hand hurt after the session, but I couldn't seem to hit well during it.
I lamented over the issue for awhile and decided to take the plunge. I walked back into the shop I bought it from an asked if I could trade the 23 for a 19. The owner answered that I could and after stopping at Chinamart for some plinking ammo I was back at the range to see if my choice had been a good one. It was.
Not only did I fire 100 rounds without sharp pains in my hand, my groups were freakishly smaller with the 19. Another plus is that I am able to only buy one caliber of pistol ammo and practice with both of my carry guns.
I realize that this isn't a particularly interesting story, but I wanted to offer my praise of the Glock 19 to anyone on the fence about purchasing one. Go for it......I highly doubt you will regret it.
