Tragic boating accident

I seem to have a boating accident every couple of years and loose a lot of stuff.

Still happens, roads in Iraq are not good, when we were escorting army truckers (not civi) it was easier to write off a palate of stuff than try to explain why 3 cases were missing, any hoo, my platoon got some great stuff, and the chow hall loved them, what, lost a load of steak going to Bagdad, shucks have to change the menu...

I don't think much has changed on um.... "local military procurement" for the guys on the ground since Alexander's time. Any good junior NCO has supply side economics burned into DNA. Dead on about easier to explain an entire pallet missing :scrutiny: than just part of it. Kinda heartwarming that the current generation has all the savvy that the best of the old timers had. ;)

A little off topic, to be sure, but in the '80s when I was working in Miami, FL as a gunsmith, a guy came into the store with a nice Colt 1903 .32 automatic that had quite a bit of pepper spot surface rust on it, and wanted to get it "cleaned up."

The story: He was cruising with friends in the Florida Straits (in international waters) when they were accosted by a Cuban gunboat. The Cubans held them prisoner for several days, confiscating all their medical supplies, food, guns and ammunition, with the exception of the Colt which, for some reason they tossed in the dinghy that was towed by the cabin cruiser. Apparently the women were raped as well.

Eventually they released the boaters who returned to Miami, but there's a true story of guns being lost in a tragic boating accident.

Actually, I lost four to theft by a federal employee, two in a car fire, two to a flood, eleven in a shop fire, one in a mud slide, two in a wild fire started by BLM employees, and my dad and uncle made a number of others disappear.

Oddly enough, there wasn't a single gun on board my little cruiser when it hit a snag and sank in a deep reservoir.

A missed opportunity.

Take, for example, this whole collection that I sadly reported just a couple of weeks ago.

All weapons lost, gone, bottom of the mire. I'm Glockless. Poor me.:(
