Can someone tell me how to remove the firing pin from the breechblock? I have the screws out, and the lever/spring removed. Does the firing pin run on an angle from the breechface to where the hammer hits? Thanks-
I love those old Springfields. One thing that I learned early on though, was that you gotta be real careful when ya start workin' up a handload
for'em...Don't ask.
Since your two questions have laid here all day without a response, I'll shoot it on over to Rifle Country. One of those gurus over there will come up with an answer for ya.
Yes, the firing pin runs at an angle. To remove it, remove the screw beside the thumb latch and remove the latch and cam. Then remove the screw on the underside of the bolt that was covered by the latch. The firing pin can then be pulled/pushed out. Note that it has to be replaced in a certain position for the screw to engage it properly.
