Well, I'd heard that Michael Moore is portrayed in a very unflattering light in the movie Team America but I thought that it was just Parker and Stone doing their old "make fun of everyone" thing. They were on Conan O'Brian last night and it turns out that it's not the case. They don't like Michael Moore and consider themselves victims of his deceptive movie making. I had no idea that one of them was in Bowling for Columbine and he really resented the movie after he saw it. They grew up in Colorado and support second ammendment rights.

I wish I could remember the exact exchance about the Michael Moore appearance but when Conan asked them about it they explained Trey's appearance in Bowling and then how they didn't like the movie when it came out and then explained very clearly how Michael Moore puts things together to give an appearance of things that aren't true. Like after Trey got interviewed in BFC Moore then ran a cartoon right after that which looked very Southparkish but actually had no connection and was not done by them. They didn't like that. Then Matt Stone added "and he's really fat too" in typical Southpark style then they said something along the lines of "so we made a movie and blew him up." Hehehe...it was cool to see some Hollywood types speak so bluntly about Moore and his idiocy. I also love that they bash so many Hollywood loony lefties in this movie from what I've heard. I need to see it.

I think it'd be hard to get an accurate transcript because they were talking over each other a lot. I think I just barely caught a "We like guns!" among some of their crosstalk.

Parker and Stone are most definitely not "Hollywood types". They hate Hollywood. The only reason they did Team America is because they were allowed to make it with no studio oversight.

How come it seems the people who don't have to deal with actors make the most sense: King of the Hill, Simpsons, Bill Cosby, Dennis Miller etc.

Sure they "make fun of everybody", but it's still better than making fun of only us.

Moore ripped them off, pure and simple. He used a cheap animation factory to churn out a Southpark-Style cartoon with an anti-gun attitude. Most viewers went away assuming "Matt and Trey" had done the animation on the sly.

Moore may be a leftist, but if he can save a buck by ripping someone off he'll do it in a heartbeat. He knows the value of a $.

Wow. I've been ticked at those two since BfC came out because I thought that did that dang cartoon equating the NRA with the KKK. Not only does it look like it was done by them, but I read articles that said it was done by them.

I was pleased to hear Team America wasn't a Bush/USA bash fest...I'm gonna hafta go see it.

I've always loved South Park, and it's wonderfully refreshing to see a couple of folks in the entertainment industry with brains in their head, and maybe even some integrity! :)

People have NEVER stopped attributing that horrible cartoon to Parker and Stone, because it looks exactly like South Park. I mean exactly. If they actually had made the cartoon, it probably would have looked a lot less like South Park, actually.

I don't know why, but it never occurred to me to question why Trey agreed to appear or whether Moore was honest in his editing of their conversation. I should have assumed he was not. There's a lesson for me.

I did always wonder why they weren't upset that he did a cartoon ripping off their unique style and look, but I assumed they just liked the guy that much. It seemed odd from what I've known of their politics, but I suppose I didn't put it together.

Parker is a registered Libertarian, so I'm really not suprised.

Not sure about stone.

Very interesting. I knew those guys were comic geniuses, but now I like them even more. I remember when that South Park episode aired that mocked out Janet Reno's horrible Elian Gonzalez raid. The episode aired on a Wednesday night. The raid had occured the previous Saturday morning. I was amazed. I read later that they and their crew of animators and writers had worked nearly non-stop for four days to get the episode ready. Now that's dedication.

You guys shoulda seen the clip from the movie that they showed...it was hilarious.

Kim Jung Il with a voice resembling Cartman talking to Hans Blix. Blix threatening to write him a very dangerous letter if he didn't show him the whole palace....hilarious.

Parker and Stone also said that apparently Kim Jung Il is a huge fan of cinema and they are going to mail him a print of this movie. They were completely seious. Awesome.

After I saw BFC I had assumed that they were willing participants and wrote them off. I'm glad I was wrong the Uncut Uncensored south Park movie is one of the funniest things I've seen in a movie for a long time.
Now I get to watch Team America without feeling guilty

same here. Have there been any articles on the specifics of moore twisting what they said?

While I love South Park and am really looking forward to seeing TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE!( I'm looking even more forward to asking for tickets for it and saying that in a really enthusiastic/aggressive/jingoistic voice to embarass my girlfriend), anyway, I have to wonder still what their stance on firearms exactly is.

It's comin right for us!

I haven't found any concrete proof that they are Libertarians or right-wing sympathetic really, beyond some of the messages in their show. I wouldn't want to attribute too much to them if it isn't who they are, but I'm glad they don't toe the typical entertainment industry line on these things. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in favor of the assault weapon's ban though.

one of them has been a libertarian for some time. they dont seem to care about who they make fun of, which i love ( im only 20), gun owners, rob reiner, kathy lee, whatever.

i would definetly see this movie, at least on the surface, as being a giant jab at president bush though, because of the whole "world cop force" theme. but, then again, being a libertarian, i dont support the war on "some" drugs and the war on "some" terrorists myself. hell, i dont even mind mike moore, i dont agree with him on guns, but being from a 3rd gen gm family, i definetly agreed with him on roger and me.

Whether you agree with his points or not is never really the issue with Moore. The issue is his unethical and reprehensible style of movie-making.

transcript

Conan: Michael Moore is depicted in this film, along with a lot of other celebrities... I talked about it with one of our producers after we saw the movie cause you guys sort of go after Michael Moore... And I thought, that's surprising, because Michael Moore was in Bowling for Columbine. You know, it's his movie. He interviewed you on Bowling for Columbine. And I remember thinking, "I thought those guys were friends with Michael Moore. Did they have a falling out?" What happened there?

MS: Well I wasn't so much that we had a falling out. It was that he asked me to do the interview for Bowling for Columbine because I grew up in Littleton, Colorado.

Conan: Right

MS: So I was like "okay I'll talk about growing up in Littleton, Colorado." What he did that made us a little angry is that he put an animation that is right after my piece in Bowling for Columbine that's very South Parkesque in it's look. And I think 99% of the people who saw Bowling for Columbine think Trey and I did that animation.

Conan: I thought it was yours until my producer told me that he talked to you guys.

TP: He asked us if we would do an animated thing for him and we were like "you know, we grew up in Colorado, our parents have guns...you know... whatever."

Conan: I'm wearing a gun now.

TP: Exactly. We strongly believe in guns. And so he kind of did it anyway. So later when he did Farenheit 9/11 people were like, "well Michael Moore kind of lies and manipulates to make people think certain things." We're like personal victims of that. So we basically decided to make him into a puppet and blow him up.

MS: I mean He didn't explicitly say "Matt and Trey did this animation," but he made it look like it. And that's what he does in his movies. He uses two images put together and he creates meaning where there is none.

TP: And he's fat.

[crowd cheers]

"People have NEVER stopped attributing that horrible cartoon to Parker and Stone, because it looks exactly like South Park. I mean exactly."

Moore probably gathered that these two would be a thorn in the side of the left on gun issues and purposefully had the cartoon he used smell SouthParkish. Guilt by association.

Alll's fair in politics, so check this out. www.communistsforkerry.com Fighting fire with fire. This is one of the funniest sights I've seen.
