Triangle Barrel Profile????

I am not really a rifle person since taking up Bow hunting years ago. However, the last time I was at my LGS I looked at a couple rifles that had a Triangle profile to the barrel instead of rounded.

What advantage is that supposed to have?

None... it is purely aesthetic. It will cause any barrel to weigh more than is necessary to accomplish the same thing.

I believe Remington was advertising it as stiffer vs weight. Another gimmic, same as flutted barrels to improve cooling. Or 5R rifling for accuracy. Or ...
