I tried out my P3AT this weekend. Worked good, but one questions.

The trigger pull is real Long. I have to pull the trigger almost all the way back before the hammer drops. Is this normal? Is this adjustable?

Thanks.

The long trigger pull is normal. It is basically the safety on this gun. It is a nice little gun though. I sure like mine!

I concur with ront about the trigger pull. I know I want a long trigger pull on a pistol that has no external safety. Most of the time, you will have pros and cons when you select a pocket pistol. I like the size of the P3AT, but the accuracy sucks. At least on my pistol, but at close ranges it should do the trick.

Thanks. It is so long that I was wondering if something was wrong.

Trigger "pull"...that's rich! More like trigger crank with a pry bar. It does make for a safe trigger. Mine is the same.

I usually shoot at the range with a 2-3 pull target sear Ruger .22 and a 4 lbs Dan Wesson 1911 so my point of reference is off.

I kept squeezing, pulling, gripping, pulling, squeezzing, pressing. . . . Boy was I happy when it finally went bang. I don't mind the weight, it is the length of pull.

Glad I am not alone.

12many, it is long but at least it's not that heavy. It was just about right for a carry gun with those specifications (DAO, no external safety)

Mine has been reliable and accurate with FMJ (haven't tried JHP, not sure I ever will). I was shooting at a plate rack a few weeks ago. 8 inch plates at 25 yards were no problem if I gripped it carefully and slowly squeezed the trigger for each shot. The minimal sights were well regulated. The accuracy is there if you can use it under stress. The trigger pull is not heavy, but feels long especially if you have large hands. Dry fire using snap-caps to get comfortable with the trigger pull (this model really does need snap-caps for intentional dry firing).

A clean and well-lubed pistol is important for reliability in something this small and light weight. Friction can be a big issue with the low slide mass; minimize it. Don't expect 1 drop of oil to be enough for the entire pistol; they run best when "wet". I use a light grease on the metal friction points. It seems to stay in place better than oil.

The long trigger pull is why I don't have one, and don't plan on buying one. I'd rather have some sort of external safety instead. I've always disliked DAO guns of any size, they just arent for me.

DAO is the only way to go. I want the same uniform training for my revolvers as well as my autos. Train on revolvers and all DAO autos are a breeze...plus your accuracy will be superb. The P3AT is not a fun gun...not meant to be. It is the smallest little auto made that I would consider carrying...which I do. It is my "always" gun. I remember somebody once stated on here that you, "shoot the P3AT like you stole it!".
