Hey.. I know someone out there wants to help the new kid :)

So I currently only own a Davis P-380 that my dad gave me but was looking to get something a little more...reliable I guess? I have took this one target shooting a couple times and have actually had fairly good luck with it, but everything that I read tells me its a real piece of trash.

So I was looking at buying a new gun, maybe a Glock 19 9mm, but I seen in a Gander Mountain advertisement a new S&W Sigma 9mm or .40 for $250! (Seems like a deal to me....) so I look into it a bit more and I read that it has a 9.2lb trigger pull!

I will be the first to admit I'm quite the novice when it comes to firearms, but that seems ridiculously heavy. I was looking for what the trigger-pull was on my P-380 but Davis Industries is out of business and I can't find any website with the information.

So, am I right that 9.2 pounds is ridiculous? Anyone have any experience with the S&W Sigma and don't think its that heavy? Or if anyone has a Davis P-380 or knows its approximately trigger-pull weight. Thanks!

Your dad gave you a Davis .380?

Does this mean he wrote you out of the will too?

Discontinued guns that never caught-on with 9.2 pound triggers?

Step into the deep end of the pool.

You are swimming in the right direction with the G19.

I suspect you would be very, very pleased with the Glock model 19. It is a great gun. I have owned one for many years and have had no complaints. The only Sigmas I have personally seen in use (two) were unreliable and extremely frustrating to their owners.

I also own one of the new Ruger SR-9s, and I am very pleased with it as well. You might want to include one of them in your guns of potential interest.

The Sigma isn't a terrible weapon, but you can do better for just a little more $$$. If you can find a used S&W 5906 or 5946, those are good choices. A CZ-75 variant, new or used, is another good choice, and so is the Taurus 24/7 Pro.

The Sigma's big brother, the M&P, also has a $50 rebate available on it along with 2 free mags.

But, if you want a Glock, buy a Glock. The G19 is a great gun. You can often find Law Enforcement trade-ins that are in good condition if you look around. Check www.summitgunbroker.com.

Good luck!
