The trigger weight on my Henry X big boy is about 5 1/2 lbs. Its fairly crisp, and I don't hate it. But I've read that I can use a lighter hammer spring for a Marlin (on its way), along with a #6 brass washer at either end to get a pull weight of about 3 3/4lb without light strikes. So all that sounds great and I'm going to give it a try, it's nothing that can't be undone.
So my question is, a lighter hammer spring is also going to increase lock time, so which will have a greater affect on accuracy?

A good trigger job by someone who knows what he is doing will reduce the trigger pull without messing with a lighter spring (longer lock time). I've never been into a Henry, but if it is close to a Marlin in design of the lockwork it ain't hard to figure out for anyone with skills in that domain. I've improved the trigger on many Marlin lever guns with zero safety or reliability problems while leaving the factory springs intact.
