Trouble setting up Dillon XL650

Do you think that the Dillon powder funnel is really that much different than the Mr BulletFeeder one? Oh you forgot the URL. Is that just at their website?
Only thing is now since re-adjusting powder die yesterday, bullets are not dropping consistently, like they were before tweeking, and took off feeder and re-adjusted according to Horniday's instructions
I assume that the belling has something to do with triggering the die to drop a bullet. If that is the case, I will have to adjust powder die to what ever belling it takes to trigger the feeder die.

Yes it's different. It's hard to see but there is a step in the bottom "finger" where it expands (not bells) to bullet diameter just before is gets to the cone where belling takes place. You can then adjust it to bell less while still expanding enough for the bullet to stick.

The URL (link) is there, it's underlined. posting it again: For sale here for $39!
[/URL] It takes you to CED, the company who makes the CED M2 chronograph....they are selling Mr. Bullet Feeder products. I think the shipping in built in to that price....you click your zip to find shipping and the price doesn't change...at least I think so.

Bell size may indeed trigger the feed die, not sure without going home and checking. Unfortunately 9mm is harder to adjust for....almost all the threads on tweaking the Hornady feed dies have been due to either lead fodder or 9mm. Should be easy enough to take the die apart and test the premise. I'm betting the Mr. B. F. "funnel" will fix things....you can still adjust bell size, but you have something for the bullet to stick into at the bottom of the bell.

GW, I am examining that route. I currently seem to be alright, but looking at the Mini Mr BulletFeeder. Just not sure whether it will fit in station #4, with the powder check in #3. I would like to do a poll to actually see how many people use the powder checker. I talked to someone with Mr. BulletFeeder about this question, and he said you really don't need to use it, because you can just view the bullets fill level. I was telling him that I have the powder drop set a 4.7 gr. I loaded some the other day, then did some the following day. When I first checked the second day, it dropped the first load at 4.9, then after about two rounds of checking, it showed 4.7. The gentleman told me the powder checker probably would not notice that small amount of difference anyway.
So, if I really don't need it, I may be able to send it back and get my $64 back, and maybe send back my roller handle I just got last week, both those would pay the $139. That the Mini Mr. BulletFeeder would cost.

You can do that if you want to seat and crimp at the same station. Most people don't like to do that though.

If you poll people that use bullet feeders about powder checks most will say they ditch them because they want to seat and crimp in two steps.

The only way you can have a bullet feeder and seat then crimp is different stations with a pwder check is with the GSI feeders, why I use them.

Two more ways.:)
1. $100 video powder check saves a station....the big in-my-face screen gets my attention as good as a piezo...(without the annoying shrill assault):

2. Be the first in your neighborhood to grab the brand new 7 station RCBS progressive.

The video one would work on the 650, might not show level as well but if your looking at it you could tell squib or double for sure.

Perhaps. You've used the beep box for a long time now. So educate me, just how sensitive is it to a few 10ths of a grain difference in ball, flakes, or logs? I can see a difference in powder height.....I mean that's the tried and true method we've used for 40 years in batch processing on a single station press, using a powder measure, right?

And it's absolutely true than 2 tenths of a grain difference isn't easy to see in say a .45ACP case full of Unique. On the other hand such a small spread doesn't affect the accuracy much either.

Well, I still use the mark II eye balls on most of my presses the old fashioned way. However for my powder check machines (with the powders I use) they will alert +\- .2 gn.

Like this one on my 9mm 1050.

Can't say they are needed on everything but if you do not put your eye ball(s) on every charge, it will keep you from posting a "kaboom" thread.

Yup the computer-controlled, Ponsness Warren-powered 9mm 1050 is the holy grail for sure. Not a choice for me. I maybe have room for one more progressive. Two total......not enough to build such a factory for 4 to 8 calibers, unfortunately, even if I did have the funds earmarked for it. Not to mention that besides having to win the lottery, I'd have to move.

Using my single 5 station press that needs to be able to change over to several calibers in a few minutes, the video checker is the best choice for me.....no need to adjust for each load or caliber!;)
