What do you think about the russian TulAmmo, I am wondering about the quality and accuracy of the 5.45X39?

sounds like what I am used to out of Wolf or similar. Was thinking about running through a russian 5.45

anybody ever chronographed this stuff?

I've used it in my AR-15, and I just bought some today for my Saiga 7.62 x 39.

Very accurate for the price, and no failures at all.

It's pretty much the same as wolf.

Goes bang. No major differences betwee them or Wolf or Barnaul.

Shoot it in your rifle and see how it does........That is the only way you can tell for sure.....That ammo is not that expensive......chris3

Ar - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
Glock 40/19/45 - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
Kimber 1911 with good mags - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
DPMS 308 AR - No jams with regular mags but for some reason it didn't feed well when using pmags, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
SKS - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
Beretta 96/92 - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
XDM 40 - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
Para p12 - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...
Smith and Wesson M&P - No jams, decent enough accuracy for range fodder...

If you are going to run Tula (or other cheap Russian ammo) you would be well advised to inspect each round.

I shoot (and have shot) quite a bit of the stuff thru my Mini 14...but then I found this little bugger in one box.

What do you suppose would have happend if I had chambered this round and dropped the hammer on it?

Since I found that, I have been shooting Federal bulk packs (brass case). Its cleaner, more accurate and seems higher quality (and its reloadable).

I understand the attraction to the cheap stuff, but that picture worries me.

TulAmmo is the only 9x18 readily available off the shelf in this area. It goes bang every time, and is no less accurate than Brown or Silver Bear.

That picture gives me pause though. I'll have to remember to closely inspect every round before loading it up.

I would choose Brown Bear/Silver bear or WPA Military Classic (Both made at Barnaul)
WOLF and WOLF Military Classic is made at Tula btw

Tula is usually no cheaper online and Barnaul stuff is better quality IMO

Although I might consider Surplus ammo for a 5.45 gun, its the cheapest, but usually corrosive.
Is it an AK or AR style weapon?

Check this Link for ammo prices....

The cheapest non-surplus ammo is actually Silver Bear from Ammunitiontogo.com. I would go for that ($0.18/rd) or the $0.13/rd surplus

it all depends on how tight your chamber is, never had problems with the .45 acp in my armscor 1911. never had any problems in a wasr 10, my sks has ripped a few rims off, i think that is due to chamber tolerances, my ar15 has too tight a chamber, the steel cases stick

goes bang every time except when I found one round that had the primer cut in half.

But that was one in a 1,000 rounds. I find the stuff does group well when shoot out of a accurate gun.

But out of all the Russian ammo I like barnaul the best most accurate and have never found a bad round.
