Tumbling plated bullets?

Hey guys,
I have a bunch of pulled gold dots that have some sort of sticky black stuff on them. Would it be okay to tumble these in walnut media?

I would not tumble them. The media will just stick to the goop. I would put them in a bucket and wash them off with soapy water. Lay them out and let them dry.

It likely tar sealant. Try a soak in mineral spirits/paint thinner.

I tumbled a whole lot of pulled M2 bullets several years ago. I used old corn cob with a lot of mineral spirits, and about 30 minutes later I had nice clean bullets but really dirty cob. Tumbling won't hurt the plating unless you let it run several days.

Media will pack in the HP cavities though.

Was the asphalt sealer off with about any solvent.

Clean them as rcmodel posted, or just load them and shoot them.

Use 2 hands, 1 rag and some solvent.
Unless you have thousands of them....
Then you'll need more supplies.

Well, I tried a small batch. It was a complete waste of time. Just like rc said. It took a long time cleaning out the cavity. Goop still on them. A mineral spirit bath is in order. Thanks guys!!
