Tuscaloosa cops came by after the tornadoes, we had guns. Video of what went down.

Goes to show you that it does depend on the mindset of all involved as to the direction of the result. We all need to continually educate as many people as possible for a positive outcome in a possible bad situation in regards to RKBA responsibility.
Around here I will find the same result. In the larger cities more problems IMHO.

Glad to hear it, we were as well. Had a couple friend's places get demolished, but no serious injuries within my circle.

Edit: And very neat vid :)

Not true, the police were very understanding here in Meridian, MS right after Katrina. Myself and plenty of others were doing open carry all over the place (which isn't legal here) and none of the police batted an eyelash.

Even when I was volunteering at the ice distribution site, none of the police there said a thing about open carry.

THAT is very unusual but good for them! We need more like them that realize special situations require both leniency and good judgement calls!

Only in Alabama

Nah, there are lots of places across the country where the police aren't the bad guys. My rural county in Easter Colorado (Elbert) has (with a couple exceptions) very friendly deputies, not just in the RKBA department, but in general. They really prefer to be in good standing with the citizens of the county; They respond to actually help, don't write a lot of traffic tickets and pretty much won't arrest people unless they have no choice. DUI, though, you're going to jail, period. They have no tolerance for that. Which I'm fine with.

The way it ought to be. I had a cop once after checking a building that I'd found open point at my pistol and tell me to do what I had to do to protect myself. Gotta love it when the cops understand that not all gun owners are criminals.

Way to go, Tuscaloosa PD!

It's always nice to see that there are LEO's out there (probably a large majority of them), that have common sense. Often, we only see and hear about the bad stuff.

We give LEOs a hard time when they don't do as they should (rightly so IMHO). This is a perfect example of what we should be able to expect from LEOs! Not a Bama fan, but from what I see here I am a fan of those good officers from Tuscaloosa!
