Tyler T-grip experiences

The last order with Tyler is 25+Yrs in the past. As I recall their waiting period was longer than I expected. Cottage Industry has its negatives and positives timing is every thing!

I'm sorry guys, but...is it possible you are all upset about something that is somewhat trivial? I just looked at their website. Their most expensive product is $50. (Less than 2 boxes of 9mm, currently.) Plus about $10 for shipping. Are you so destitute that you can't be without $60 for a month or two? How many of you would pa in advance to backorder 2 boxes of ammo-if it were even available or possible to do so right now?

Has anyone shopped for body armor lately? 2-3 month back order, after you pay your several hundred dollars. How many of you can walk into a gun shop right now and walk out with exactly what you wanted?

My local Costco hasn't had ham in stock for almost 2 months now. That's a national corporation. And you're upset that a one-man operation can't produce instant gratification? (Heck, I've been waiting for over a month for a seed spreader for my ATV. That company has had my $500 for several weeks.)

I bought my t-grips many, many years ago. I remember there being a wait, but I don't recall being upset about it, so it must not have been too bad. I knew going in they were going to be holding my fifty bucks for a while.

Food for thought anyway.

I'm not saying the product isn't good. I'm not saying it isn't ok to wait for a product you've paid for. I am saying a business model where you take the money and don't provide the product or respond to messages or calls for 4 times the estimated wait you publish, isn't above critique. Compare T-Grips to Simply Rugged holsters.

I get that, but at the end of the day, they've been in business a very long time, and they have a very long wait list; it's hard to argue with success.

But yeah, the scenario you describe would be unsettling.

If Tyler is troubling to you, I know of several gunsmiths and knifesmiths with similar attitudes and yet folks are willing to wait for them.

D.B.Cooper:
I agree that losing $50 is not going to change anybody's life, but mine was a group-buy and it was for several grips and involved a few more dollars. We weren't upset about it; but had given up on getting them.

The frustrating part was that the web site stated that most shipping times were running about 3-weeks and my order was way past that. Yes, it also states that they can vary (3 to 50 is quite a variation). I contacted them to check on the status and got no reply. If the web site indicated that there was a 1-year backlog, then I would have patiently waited knowing that nothing was amiss.

I realize that it takes time away from production to respond to your customer's questions, but they could have taken 5-minutes to update their outgoing message to indicate the current wait-times, allaying the concerns of all that call.

This is an excellent example of how some businesses survive in spite of their poor customer-service only because they make a product that no one else makes.

if you say delivery in 3 weeks (21 days) and it comes in 23 days, nobody is going to gripe about that. if you say deliver in 3 weeks and its been 3 months without returned phone calls, well, that's lousy.

They cashed my check for two grips on Friday. We'll see how long it takes.

All the above in this thread is pretty much why I couldn't get a T-Grip last summer and opted for a black polymer BKGrip instead. It's not as nice looking as a bare metal T-Grip, but it does the job.
Me too. He communicates well and ships fast. I have at least a half-dozen of them.

Maybe I'm a curmudgeon, but in this day and age, any company that can't take online payments for a non-custom item isn't all that serious about running a business. That really isn't hard to set up.

He doesnt offer a silver version for some reason, and I think he'd do better if he did. Not sure what the cream colored version he has is supposed to match up to.

I have one on a M67. The stainless goes well with the ivory color, to my eye, though others have made fun of me for it. You can too, if you want!
