Uberti 1873 Cattleman

I got a chance to shoot my new-to-me Vaquero yesterday, and I'm not sure if I like it or the Uberti better. The Vaquero is slightly more accurate and shoots closer to the point of aim. The trigger pull on the Uberti is lighter.

As I mentioned, the sights on the Ruger are a bit larger and easier for me to focus on. That's probably a plus for the type of shooting I'll be doing with it.

I have to half-cock the Uberti in order to spin the cylinder for loading. The Ruger doesn't have to be cocked to do this, but the cylinder can only be turned clockwise. If you rotate to the index click, you've gone too far and have to index it five more times to get back to where you can load that part of the cylinder. My Uberti moves freely in both directions, so this isn't an issue. I think there is a mod that can be done to the Ruger to allow this.

I think the cylinder bores on the Ruger are a bit tighter.

I guess I'll need some more range time with both pistols before I decide which I like better.

I just ordered 2 of these, 1873 Cattleman Hombre, .45 LC, 4 3/4" barrel, for CMAS competition.

I was very happy to read all the good reviews. I would have liked birds head grips, but the price on these was too good to pass up (it's tough when you need to buy 2!)
