Quoting from the article:

"Uberti USA 9mm Revolvers

Adding to their 1873 El Patrón and Cattleman Brass single-action revolvers, Uberti now offers three models in 9mm Luger. Available in the upgraded chambering are the 1873 El Patrón, 1873 Cattleman Brass, and 1873 Cattleman Brass Dual Cylinder. As a result, you can get more range time for your buck, with the less expensive round.

The headspace at the cartridge mouth of the three models does not need moon clips. As a result, the cartridges can be loaded individually into the cylinder and can be ejected normally. Each revolver is additionally hand-fitted and adjusted at the factory for precision performance.

The El Patrón features checkered walnut grips for an authentic look and positive purchase during fire. A case-hardened frame has the classic profile of the old west-style revolver. For serious competitors, the El Patrón comes with a numbered cylinder and a 5.5-inch blued barrel. Likewise, EasyView sights help with positive target acquisition.

The Cattleman Brass has a sleek walnut grip and antiqued frame finish for old west aesthetics. Both the case-hardened frame and cylinder are blued for a clean look and performance. Adding to the overall look of the Cattleman Brass are the brass backstrap and trigger guard.

The Cattleman Brass Dual Cylinder offers the same great aesthetics and features as the Cattleman Brass, in two chamberings. Shipping with two cylinders the Cattleman Brass Dual Cylinder lets you easily switch between 9mm Luger and .357 Magnum."

My thoughts:

I shoot a lot of 9mm and could see picking up a spare 9mm cylinder for one of my Uberti 357's. I also could see buying a dual cylinder El Patron. I would pass on a dual cylinder Cattleman Brass (frame).

Your thoughts?

I have a Blackahwk with the 9mm cylinder. Gives you a bit of gain but as a handloader I can make 38 cheap and not mess with changing the cylinder out.

However, if big into 9mm I see it as a plus for those people.

Not sure if they will sell a cylinder alone or not. I think it may have to be fit at the factory.

I'm hoping they release a dual cylinder El Patron. I would probably sell one of my current 357 El Patrons and replace it with that.

There's a discussion here, on the same subject, with the .45 Colt/.45 ACP arrangement.
Yeah, it's a good idea, especially if the extra cylinder is relatively inexpensive.

Since I am revolver fan but not a reloader I am all about being able to shoot 9mm. Have been looking for a 9mm SP101 but this might be a better deal for what I want. Thanks for posting.

My local shop just got in 2 of the 5.5" 1873 Cattleman Brass 9mm models. He had it priced at $550 OTD. I bought the first one. I'm not a reloader, I have lots of 9mm, so this gun will be a fun range toy for me.
I'll get a pic later. Hopefully I can get to the range this weekend.

I don't think the frame is brass, just the grip area and trigger guard. Appears to be the same gun as their Hombre model.

Cylinder for 9mm is a good idea, hopefully they'll sell it separately. With most of the aftermarket conversion units for black powder revolvers being plug and play, they should be able to do the same.

If they sell the cylinder separately I'm all in.
Not a big fan of 9mm in general, but I do have several guns chambered for it and a bunch of ammo too, so why not.
I love my El Patrons in 357 and 45 Colt.
I also have the 3.5 inch Birdshead in 45 Colt.
Maybe a 45 ACP cylinder is in order?

I've been shooting a lot of 9mm out of my Blackhawk "convertible" lately. :)

You can't count on a random Blackhawk 9mm cylinder that you find on Ebay fitting your particular Blackhawk 357 revolver. It's been said that they sometimes require hand fitting. I bought a random one on Ebay and got lucky. It works just fine... if I keep it clean and only feed it name-brand ammo.

The 9mm group sizes are about the same as the 38's I usually shoot. IIRC, the POI is also about the same.

If I could buy a 9mm cylinder that I knew would work in my 4.6" SAA clone, I would definitely get one.

same here. for the longest time my only 9mm handgun was a ruger blackhawk convertible. i don’t reload and 9mm ammo is half the cost of 38sp. i would love to see a “handier” ruger single action revolver chambered in 9mm alone, i.e. with a 3.5” barrel, in a tad lighter vaquero frame, with plowhandle grips.

I had to chuckle at this.....
The headspace at the cartridge mouth of the three models does not need moon clips.
That's a good thing as moon clips would require removal of the cylinder for reloading.

Sorry for the really late reply, I should've clarified, I wouldn't buy the brass frame version because I think it looks ugly.

I had a .357/9mm convertible Blackhawk at one point. Regret selling it.

From a handloading perspective, I don't find the convertibles that useful. However, I did find the thought of 9mm attractive in the event that I was too lazy or was out of .38 special handloads. As centerfire factory ammo goes, 9mm is cheap enough and ubiquitous enough that I could at least in theory always have something to shoot.

The only thing I'd be mindful of with convertible guns like that is that POI can vary greatly when switching from .357/38 to 9mm. This was an example of where adjustable sights are useful. I don't think I'd be interested in a .357/9mm convertible gun with fixed sites. YMMV.

I have found that ammo choice can influence POI so fooling around with a bunch of different ammo might help or different powder combinations with the desired bullet. I think its a terrific idea and would by a 9mm cylinder for my Uberti El Patron in 357 mag. I love it and can fit the cylinder myself.
