That's what such threads are.

Playing. While I enjoy guns and shooting, almost everyone would be way ahead to keep things simple and few in number. Guns ain't worth a hoot as investments. If you pay retail and tax, it will take inflation 15 years before the gun is worth as much as you spent (cause the $ will be worth half as much by then). Dividing your time and money a lot of ways just means that you are half good with many guns, instead of being extremely skilled with a few.

If your name is not Miculek, nobody is paying for your guns/ammo/accessories, and you are not being paid to shoot, either. I understand that guns/shooting can be relaxation, etc. But while you are relaxing, why not build a useful skill, with a combat-capable arm?

1. Ruger GP100 5 inch
2. Glock 21SF
3. Glock 21 SF or Sig 220ST..never had much luck with 1911s
4. Ruger Blackhawk 45 with 300 grain bullet +P loads
5. K22 5 screw made in 1948...sweet
6. Ruger Bisley Flat Top 44 Special
7. Smith 642

1. S&W 4" 686 +
2. Glock 17
3. Ed Brown Kobra Carry
4. Glock 20
5. Ruger 22/45
6. Ruger New Vaquero
7. Pocket - S&W 638 w/or wo/ Crimson Trace, Carry - Kimber Ultra II Crimson Trace or Glock 36

My ultimate guns in all of these categories are the following:

1. Stainless Steel GP100, 5" barrel
2. M&P 9, with the thumb safety.
3. I suppose that I'd probably go for a stainless Ed Brown Special Forces model with a 5" barrel
4. Here is we're I go a little nuts. I would buy .44 magnum Super Redhawk and a .44 mag Redhawk with a 4.2" barrel. I would send them both to the gunsmith and have the Super Redhawk converted to use the Redhawk barrel. I've see it done. It is what Ruger should have done years ago. A Super Redhawk with a Redhawk barrel.
5. I'd probably opt for Ruger SP101 with 4.2" barrel.
6. Ruger Single Ten. Not big on convertibles. You lose accuracy with the .22 LR.
7. M&P 9c, with the thumb safety.
