No, really it is firearm related.

I was watching the tv guide channel the other day looking for something to watch and there was an interview with Uma Thurman about a movie of hers. In it she is a survivor of a highschool shooting, it's about the lasting trauma of the event. That is a very relevant topic in my opinion. Anyways, I was not paying much attention and I heard something about 'ease of getting guns'. I immediately thought "oh great, another hollyweirder blaming guns".

Well the interview was just playing again, I decided to watch closely and hear exactly what was said. The question was "what do you think we can do to keep our children safe?" and to her credit she said we need "to teach more gun safety" also mentioned that these acts seem to be perpetrated by people with mental problems and their being able to get guns. I happen to agree, as the NICS check should have prevented Cho from buying guns. This seemed like a statement that we should have education not bans and to enforce the laws we have.

Kudos to here, bad on me for jumping to a conclusion.

Kudos to her, bad on me for jumping to a conclusion.

I do the same thing with Hollywood types and I am always shocked when I don't hear an extreme anti-gun message come out of their mouth. Good for her!

These anti-gun celebs sure don't tend to mind when their bodyguards carry...

Oh hypocrisy you are such a cruel cruel mistress.

I caught a glimpse of Bill Mahr saying he had a gun, emphatically stating that is was not a handgun, but something to protect his bedroom. And he is one of the most liberal of the liberal.

I should hope she'd answer favorably, because she is unconscionably hot--that kind of conflict of my interests could leave me literally torn. (And I do mean literally.)

Dang... The pod person that I replaced her with got its lines wrong...

She is supposed to say: "The only thing better than gun ownership and embracing our intrinsic human right to life is JCMAG in a bathrobe with a highball in hand."

These pod people, jeez, they sure are sloppy. Oh well, better than nothing...

Let me fix that yeah but she's still not attractive, as a pro gun person, cause she is linked with Hollywood.

She's got bug eyes, but its her brains and personality that are the sexy.

Plus, when she does get a hold of a gun in a movie, she actually looks like she knows what she's doing with it.

+1 on Quentin being pro-gun too.

Death Proof not only had a long conversation about handguns for self protection, but actually turned a serial killer into a running scared ninny screaming for his life.

So is this movie supposed to convince the fence-sitters that school shottings are bad or something? (sarcasm)

There could be so much gained from really well done movies where believable characters take control of their own safety and save their own lives in accordance with the law.

Not to say this new film is stupid, I just got excited for a second that it might be some director being ballsy and doing something like what I had in mind.

"Justin is a Chinese jet pilot." <---- Notify the guy running around here with the obnoxious "SPACE FOR RENT" sig that this one is available. ;)

Uma's not pro gun, unless she has had a major insight since 2000.

Stars Join Forces To Ban Guns
4 December 2000 (WENN)
Uma Thurman, Michael Douglas, Naomi Campbell, Melanie Griffith, Helena Christensen and Justin Timberlake are just some of the celebrities who have joined forces to fight gun laws in America. Taking part in Marie Claire's End Gun Violence Now, the stars gathered together for a photoshoot, all donning campaign T-shirts and joining hands to demonstrate their united front against arms. Thurman says, "Think of the fact that every 17 minutes, someone is unnecessarily killed by a gun." Her husband Ethan Hawke, adds, "Anyone could easily end the life of my child with a gun. I don't think you should be able to possess that power in the palm of your hand." Melanie Griffith adds, "Most products are carefully sealed with safety catches, tape, cellophane... yet you can buy a gun with no safety element at all. How is that possible?"

Just another Hollywood hypocrite riding movie guns and violence to the bank.

Props on the research charon,
I don't think you should be able to possess that power in the palm of your hand
yikes.

In the wisdom of Dennis Hopper I would say to that "You've got blinders on to the world!"

(Yes, I know he was a villain in the movie when he said that...it still works though)

Just another Hollywood hypocrite riding movie guns and violence to the bank.

Good catch. I knew there was a reason that I hated Kill Bill so much.
