i'm wondering how the fit is on these. no stores around here sell em so looks like i might haveta order them from a magazine.

1) usually a medium sized shirt is tight on me, and a large one is comfortable but not too baggy. anyone who knows about the sizing please help

2) anyone know how the tight shirts are? i dunno if i should get tigt ones or loose ones. both would fit my body type

3) are they "fire resistant" to any degree like cotton? i'm a volunteer ff and if they're gonna melt on me i don't wanna wear one in a fire

I never seen 'em myself, but go to www.lightfighter.com and go to the discussion boards and run a search...I see lots of discussions on them there but haven't read them myself...go to either the 'first line gear' or 'tactical clothing' forums...hth!!!

I wear a large in everything I wear nowdays.

My Under Armor is also a large and fits well. What you really need to do is decide on which under armor you will be buying. There are several different styles. Spend your money wisely, because they are expensive.

Under Armor

Mine is one of the loose gear t-shirts. Some of the guys I work with bought the heat gear and seem to like them.

If you are simply looking for a shirt to wick away moisture, while keeping your warm, then also look at duofold shirts. I own no less than 9 t-shirts made from duofold for work, and absolutely love them. And you can find them for around $10.00.

Never used one of those but I currently own a modified jacket. I bought this DOO(tm) jacket and sew the kevlar from an used bulletproof vest inside it, so It does not look funny nor it allows anyone to "make" me.

Kevlar is fairly easy to cut (provided you have got good tailor scissors) and I spent about 2-3 hours checking the right shape for it to fit my back and front. Cut the vest in 16 pieces that are now sewn...I am looking forwar on shooting the jacket..I want to try it before I wear something like that..

I wear Under Armor as a baseball umpire under my plate gear. It's intended to fit snugly to wick as much moisture as possible away from your skin. I wear XL shirts normally and buy XL Under Armor for the correct, snug fit.

I love the stuff.

Rogelio,

Under Armor is not body armor, it is a name brand under shirt used mostly for personnel using body armor.

I understand that you live in Peru, and may have been misled by the wording.

I have quite a bit of UA (and Nike Dri-Fit) gear for hiking, camping and general workouts. My inventory includes Heat Gear t-shirts/compression shorts and Loose Gear shooter shirts.

I strongly recommend you visit the Under Armour website and click on the specific style of UA gear and check out the "sizing chart". This is because the sizing will differ between types (e.g. Heat Gear vs Loose Gear) but also within the same type (e.g., Heat Gear medium t-shirt is for chest size 38-40 but Heat Gear compression short "medium" is waist size 30-32 -- normally "medium" is waist size 32-34).

You might want to let us know your measurements so people of comparable size can let you know how UA gear fits.

I'm a size 38 jacket (although the tape measure says 40" chest, I like the way the size 38 jackets drape so I buy those instead).

My Heat Gear (size M) t-shirts fit rather tightly. They're supposed to do that -- the idea is that they act as a "second skin" to wick away moisture. While they are tight, it is not restrictive.

However, YMMV as it depends on your body type. I think overall body type is more important with the Heat Gear line because if one's waist is on par with one's chest measurements (or in some cases, larger) then the compression caused by the tight fit may become uncomfortable. For me, I have a 28" waist and even that difference (12" from chest to waist) is not enough to make the Heat Gear shirt fit loosely around my waist -- it's still tight, as intended. Keep this in mind when sizing.

My Loose Gear (size M) shooter shirts fit VERY loosely. I'd say equivalent to wearing a size L cotton shirt (unshrunk). I compared the UA Loose Gear size M shooter shirt to my Nike Dri-Fit size M shooter shirts and the UA shirts are significantly looser.

Note: if you decide to buy, check out Lightfighter as Skunk said. They sell UA "tactical" gear, which means the logo is subdued for use by operators. Were you surprised when Skunk recommended Lightfighter? Didn't think so. It's tactical! :D

Anyway, not only do they have the tactical line, they're also the cheapest place on the 'net to get UA gear. UA generally does not discount off list so most places sell at list. Lightfighter sells at below list -- e.g., a "normal" Heat Gear t-shirt is $25 while Lightfighter's is $19. However, be aware that Lightfighter is in short supply of UA tactical gear (my latest order has been waiting for around 4 weeks) due to heavy demand of our forces in Iraq.

HTH,

Justin
