I highly recommend it. I was at a pistol class earlier this year where we went through 1,200 rounds in two days. Boy were my thumbs sore. So I went out and bought the UpLULA. All you need is a flat surface and you're good to go. Even if you don't have a flat surface you can use your knee to get the same effect. No wear or tear on your fingers at all with the UpLULA.
The Uplula works nicely. There's a little tab on one side that locks the device closed and it can lock accidentally while using the Uplula, so if functioning stops mysteriously just flip the tab to its up position and continue.
I don't see any advantage to the Uplula when loading single stack magazines. It also doesn't seem worthwhile when loading double stack magazines except for the last few rounds or unless there's need to load a lot of magazines in a session. But when my old fingers start complaining the Uplula makes the problem go away.
I've had mine now for about 2 months and love it. I use it for both single and double-stack mags.
I take a lot of mags with me to the range so I don't waste time loading there. Believe me, the UpLULA saves a ton of time even with the single stacks. More importantly, it saves a lot of wear and tear on the hands.
It works very well using the thigh as the resting point; equally well using a table top.
Even if you only have 3 or 4 mags, it's worth the price !!!
My wife and I normally go through about 500-800 rounds in a range trip with various guns and I do most if not all of the mag loading, my hands used to hurt after we left and the next day, but I bought one of these loaders and I could not be happier. It works like a charm and even after loading 500 rounds or more I do not feel anymore pain or cramping in my hands
