The (CT State) Senate on Friday 4/21 passed an Amendment on SB 105 ELECTRONIC DEFENSE WEAPONS http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillst...selBillType=Bill&bill_num=105&which_year=2006 which is essentially the same process the anti-gun groups used last year and the same content. Faced with the possibility of the defeat of House Bill 5818 in the Public Safety Committee, the anti-firearm advocates have resorted to attaching an Amendment to Senate Bill 105 -- an unrelated bill that has already been approved by the Public Safety Committee. Our procedures will be the same as last year and we WILL OPPOSE.

The Amendment makes it a crime to fail to report the loss or theft of a firearm within 72 hours from when the victim "knew or should have known" of the theft and has significant penalties. This move happened because the opposition's vote count certainly showed they did not have the votes to JF HB 5818 out of Public Safety Committee, where it has to be referred, primarily because of YOUR communications. Although all of the new 06 language is deleted from the amendment, the retained language, if passed, will undoubtedly be the springboard language for the 06 deleted sections next year. Several Amendments have been initiated to SB 105, and most can be found under Uncalled Amendments (Left side of page) S.B. No. 1195 AN ACT CONCERNING REVISIONS TO CERTAIN CRIMINAL STATUTES, THE DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION OF EMPLOYEES OF CERTAIN AGENCIES AND THE SALE OF BODY ARMOR.

There is NO immediate need to pass a bill PROHIBITING THE SALE OF ELECTRONIC DEFENSE WEAPONS, in fact we question any need at all. The amendments proposed are all reasoned and beneficial to the state - none are frivolous. As happened last year, we don't expect the bill or amendments to be called due to time constraints.
On Sunday Hunting, Speaker of the House James A. Amann, D-Milford, said Wednesday that while he supports the bill, there's apparently not enough support in his majority caucus to allow a potentially lengthy debate on the measure as the May 3 adjournment date approaches. We expect the same will happen with this bill. Meanwhile we'll be watchful a similar amendment is not placed on another bill. If that happens, we'll use the amendments on that bill also.

Continue contacting your legislators OPPOSING this amendment and any similar "Lost & Stolen" action.

A lot of good it did to talk with Edith  I let her know this was bogus, but I guess being a female Dem.= evil guns :banghead:. I'll put my flame suit on, but that's the way I see it.

I emailed Edith Prague myself as well as Jodi and their reply was no reply. I'd say its time to email them again for whatever good it might do. :banghead:

They must recognize my name by now though. Should I take cover when I hear helicopters these days? :p

(sorry I missed the last couple shoots. I'm going to post a couple pics of what I've been up to over at aps when I get a chance. I'll let you know when)
