To recap:
2-19-14 PT-145 Millenium PRO had the little "nut" on the end of the captive recoil spring assembly come off. Taurus said it could be 6-8 weeks before my part comes in.

I called them today and the nice lady said it was still on back order and advised me to call back in a few more weeks.

I am purchasing the whole assembly- once it is available- since that is the only way they sell it. My credit card is on file with them and will be debited once the back-order is resolved.

Perhaps I shall start formulating a note to Mr. Kressler...

Graylock, That is why I got rid of my new G2 9 in a month. I called on a new recoil spring unit & could not understand the first man & never heard from the second person, a woman, you might not either.

Always get the Name of the CSR you talk to on the phone...
and before ending the call, ask them to read back the order notes...

saves a lot of grief in the long run...

I had a lot of problems with a Taurus 941 which I have posted three threads on. In my case I took my complaint in writing and had a replacement gun in a week. Mr. Kresser proved to me that he wants to improve their quality and customer service. Let me know if you need his mailing address.

BSA1- it would be helpful if you could provide me that mailing address. Just got off the line with "Jeremiah". He told me now that my part was still on back order and that they have no idea when it might become available. :(

I had the same failure about 6 months or so back. After nearly an hour on hold, the rep confirmed with me the assembly I needed, told me it would be 6-8 weeks, I had it within a week or so.

And I wouldn't worry about them sending just the missing retainer nut, they've always replaced them for me as a complete assembly, for obvious reason, I'm surprised the rep didn't tell you that.

Well- this project had been put on the back burner due to other more pressing concerns (BTW- please support Relay for Life). Now almost a year later I called Taurus and they said the part was in, and they would ship it out and waive the shipping fees since it had been so long. That was 1-23-15. I received the captive recoil spring today and eagerly unwrapped the package from Brown Santa. Lo and behold... they sent the wrong part. It is too big. So I called (actually sat on hold for an hour) then had the nice young lady say she was going to cross reference the part I needed against the part they sent, would I mind holding while she checked. Then I got disconnected. I called back again and was on hold again (this time for only 35 minutes.) Ultimately, Samantha said they would refund me and put the correct part on back order for me with no known time of arrival. So I am back at the beginning, again.

OK....I'm finally convinced about Taurus service issues.
Sincere good luck Greyrock.

Looks like I am too late to write Mr. Kresser.

According to Caleb Giddings at Gun Nuts Media, credible reports have confirmed that Taurus International Manufacturing have fired their CEO Mark Kresser. His release is a sudden move for the company after it has been trying to re-invent its image under his leadership for the past several years. No official word on who is to replace Mark, but that information will come in due course -

Looks like the newbie inherits Kresser's problems.

Fresh on the heels of their dismissal of Mark Kresser as head of Miami-based Taurus USA, the Brazilian gun maker has just announced that they’ve hired Anthony Acitelli as President and CEO. Acitelli is a firearms industry vet and comes to Taurus from Colt where he was SVP of sales.

I'm glad I double checked the CEO's address before I sent out the letter I just penned.

I think Colts current situation is due to its lack of good management in the past. Makes me think that if I need a part for one of my few Taurus pistols it is find a good machine shop or just stop shooting the gun.

Here's a hint that worked for me.

I needed a captive recoil spring assembly for my PT 24/7.
Ordered one and the wait began. This was before their
stupid "restricted parts" policy was put in place.

Months pass, I'm told repeatedly what I've ordered is on
backorder.

I finally broke down and shipped them the gun. I guess the part
came in while my gun was in transit to them. Had it back in
seven days fixed and they picked up the shipping both ways.

Gut tells me they had it but didn't want to ship it because of their
stupid "restricted parts" policy. May be wrong but odd it came in
while my gun was in transit.

You might try sending it in. If it's not usable, you won't miss it.
Long enough wait they may give you the option on a new gun.

All the Best,
D. White

I am happy to report that Taurus came through. I shall provide more details later, it is late and I have to work early. But I am relieved to have closure of my issue.

2-4-15 I sent a letter to CEO Acitelli explaining my situation. 2-10-15 my wife get's a call (I work during the day) from a nice young lady (NYL) from Taurus saying she received my letter and they need my serial number to find the correct part. Yes, in my focus to get the facts straight in my letter I overlooked including my serial number, my bad. HOWEVER, I did NOT, repeat "NOT" include my phone number in my letter. If they accessed my "file" at Taurus to get my telephone number the serial number should have been right there, as the only times I have contacted them was to try to get this part and each time they asked for the serial number. I returned the call and spoke to a young man who said that they had shipped a part already, but upon checking my serial number sees that it is the same incorrect part they had previously sent. He said he would send a note to the parts department. 2-12-15 I receive a voice mail from the same NYL saying they found the right part and are sending it FedEx signature required and left me a tracking number. FedEx tracking shows it is supposed to be here on 2-20-15. 12:02PM I get a call from the same NYL asking if I received my part. I had not. She apologizes and says she had not checked the tracking and will call me Tuesday 2-24-15. 12:53PM I get a delivery from Purple Santa... It IS my correct part! Oh frabjous day, callou, callay- I chortled in my joy! Now when I talk to the NYL on Tuesday I can thank her, but it may be my opportunity to address any other questions you, my friends, may have for Taurus Corporate. When I have her ear, what would you like me to ask her?

I am happy I got my part- but why did I have to go to the lengths I did to procure it? That will be my primary question.
