UPS lost my gun!

Well, it was lost, not stolen, and I'm thinkin' the horrible weather in the Midwest had something to do with the delay. Of course, a human voice on the other end of the phone at UPS would have reduced my angst considerably. Don't they know a lost gun is like a lost child?

To appropriately welcome your baby home, maybe you should take it out on the deck and fire two blasts into the air, you know, to scare off any evil that might be in the neighborhood! (Even though it's not a double barrel)

In the end, UPS will probably be forced to admit it was stolen by a UPS employee. It was that very hub, specifically NJ, that prompted the "urgency" with which handguns are now shipped NEXT DAY at shipper expense. You see, so many guns were stolen on the east coast (Wash DC, NJ, and NY), that it ws getting to be big business. UPS countered the problem by insisting that the gun's time in the system be shortened by next day service, giving thieves a shorter time to detect and swipe the guns. I guess the UPS thieves have switched to long guns. Rather than weed out the employees who steal, they just figured it was better business (much more lucrative), and easier, to charge the people shipping guns.

You people are giving me nightmares at the thought of my rifles going missing during transit if and when I relocate to the States!!

My son works a tough 10 hour day. He is well paid but how many drivers have you seen over 50? Its a short career.

I've never seen a fat UPS driver either!

General comments-
I have found as a recipient of a missing or damaged package they won't even talk to you until the shipper files a claim.
I've also found, personal experience, having surveillance video of the UPS truck stopping in front of your house, clearly showing the driver never got out of the truck, or came onto the property, even though he said he left the package at the front door, means nothing to them either. They didn't even want to see it.
Package did show up the next day after the claim, at an odd time (compared to usual time) and they demanded a signature. :scrutiny:

I love UPS. Drivers work harder by far and seem more competent than the USPS people I have to deal with. A good way to fix the Postal Service money issues we are having is to just give the job to UPS.

It's amazing, really. My shotgun has been in constant motion since they found it, and I've been following it through their tracking website. It was in Louisville early this morning, then Newburgh, NY, by breakfast, and its current status is "out for delivery," scheduled to arrive here by noon. Considering they deliver over 15 million parcels and letters daily, that is nothing short of miraculous.

The UPS man is by far the most popular person in the neighborhood, and has achieved Santa-like status since Al Gore invented online shopping. Everybody has a friendly wave and smile for the man in the Big Brown Truck, his position in the community being akin to the mayor or church deacon. In my next life, I want to be a UPS man, I think.

I recently ordered a laserguard for my TCP and it got sent UPS. Never had trouble with them before, but this time they left it on the porch floor and never knocked (my wife was in the living room at the time of delivery). When I got home, it was in pieces all over the yard, torn up by a dog. I'm still waiting to hear if they are going to cover it, but I'm not overly hopeful.

UPS insures themselves through a 3rd party company ... and they =never= pay.

Glad they were able to find it.

They paid me. In fact, they paid the shipper for the missing item and then he sent me a refund.

We had another one where the insurance check was literally in the mail when they found the item (about 4 weeks after it didn't show up). They called to say the check had been cancelled and that the item would be delivered.

While I've had good luck with UPS insurance claims, I use FedEx almost exclusively and I've never had to file a lost claim.

I have sent a R25 (AR 308) back to Remington for the second time and I insured it for 3 times what it is worth. I hope somebody steals it. If I knew someone that worked there I would pay them to throw it in a dumpster lol
