Urban Daily Backpack Gun

The OP has barely engaged any of the folks here in a tizzy over the merit of his options/choices let alone the ones who've made it downright personal.
Doesn't seem to me as though anyone -- including myself -- are in "a tizzy" nor have made it personal over the totally irrational concept -- given the absence of any specific threat requiring such an over-the-top "hardware solution" -- the OP has put forth.

But, I guess we have our answers.

Qui tacet consentire videtur.

Or possibly some of us missed April Fool's Day and this is all just an exercise in satire.

Wolverines!

I do carry a gun to the gym, in a Maxpedition sling bag with a CCW pocket. All my other gym stuff is in there - deodorant, padlock, headphones, etc.

But it's a handgun. I think even a compact SBR is a bit bulky and heavy to be routinely carrying around.

Maybe "tizzy" isn't a correct word choice, but I don't see how speculating on the person's character or the smart-assed barbs some folks have made are anything but personal. I can't rightly say I disagree with the sentiment either, but opinions on the person asking the question weren't part of the question.

No one has done so.

Some have questioned his judgement. Others have questioned his behavior, suggesting that starting a thread about an impractical suggestion for concealed carry reflected trolling, which violates our rules. Note that those comments were based in part on reactions to the member's recent posting history.

I have paced a post in ST&T that should meet your standards.

They're not my standards, rather the standards of this forum. If the consensus of the staff is that the individual is violating the rules by trolling, it should be addressed. Just not in this thread. That's all.
Are you deliberately being obtuse?
I don't think so. Overweight perhaps but not...oh you said obtuse.

I don't know anyone who carries a rifle of any kind in a backpack, so no...I don't know what they'd look like. But I didn't understand how appearance would really be relevant. People of all types of appearances have dumb ideas, do dumb things, and say dumb stuff.

When I was a rookie (to the internet and forums) here, I barged into peoples threads with off topic questions etc, had to learn about forum etiquette. Probably asked a couple of dubious questions.

While some may question the need or the sensibilities of carrying that Sig in a backpack to the gym or wherever else, as long as it is done lawfully, well, knock yourself out.

I didn't see the question as trolling, and the OP hasn't responded to certain posts as a troll would, so the thread runs, and has gotten some good answers. This thread, like all others, will run it's course and peter out, or get testy, and get locked, but no thread lasts forever.

Answers to these questions about 300 BLK, and many more, can be found here:

https://americanarmamentco.com/300-blackout/

I read that but didn't find the answers. The guide in the link answers questions comparing 300 BLK to 5.56 NATO, but it did not compare it to 9mm or 45 ACP at subsonic velocities. I'm also interested in a comparison to handgun ammo in terminal effectiveness at short ranges (under 50 yards). 5.56 doesn't exhibit tremendous terminal effectiveness, but it's probably safe to say that it can often have marginally greater effectiveness than many handgun rounds (at short range, obviously at hundreds of yards it's way more practical and effective). 300, however, even when supersonic has a smaller caliber than most handgun rounds and unlike 5.56, is only marginally higher velocity than a magnum handgun. Ok, it can hit at something like 2500 fps, but only with 90 grs out of a 16" barrel. Wouldn't I be better off with a 5.56? With a 125 grain, it's down to 2100 or 2200 fps with a 16" barrel. I could get that with a 357 Magnum. Shorten the barrels to 5" and the Magnum is looking even better. Drop to subsonic, what keeps 300 from being worse than a 147 gr. 9x19mm?
