Use of the cane.

I travel by plane, anywhere, City Stick. I do have a not so good left ankle, and it does sometimes play up.
Not having my Glock19 is the real reason for the City Stick. This light practically unbreakable polymer stick is incredible for it's multiple uses.
There are so many spots on the human body that do not take kindly to blows!
Plus old Lady's open doors for you, young ones, marching in front of their wimp husbands, let the door fly back in your face!
As I am always with my Wife, I actually do all the door opening.

I am having to use my cane it seems more each month as I head toward 48. I use my cane for getting milk when they don't slide down the rack like they are suppost too.
Some years back, I suffered a pretty nasty back injury. It took the better part of a year, surgeries an whatnot to get right.
During this time, I had a friend who made walking sticks as a hobby. He fitted me up with a cane that has a brass duck bill head. The shaft is some sort of very hard black wood hollowed out and a steel rod was inserted. It's a pretty ornate stick and head that does get attention because of its obviously artistic flare.
This is the cane I still use. I fly quite a bit, and have never had any problems with security.
The point I guess I'm trying to make is that if a cane/walking stick is to be used as a weapon, make sure it is up to the task.

In my half-century study of the various arts, I've become proficient in the use of a number of traditional weapons. My yearlong battle with numerous back surgeries has given me the time to study the use of a proper purpose-built cane.
The link above is for anyone needing a quality self-defense cane. They are an inch in diameter, thus they are strong. Though my low back 3 vertebrae fusion and harware installion has not yet healed, I've used my cane to throw students halfway across the gym's mat. It's heavy enough to break bones and the hook tip is sharp enough to dismember the groin area.
TSA agents have picked it up and given me that "look" when they feel how hefty it is.
Against the cane, a knife is only useful if it is applied in stealth

That what I like about Cane Masters and those Heavy duty Stock Canes. I got one and put a birds beak on it and gave it a Ravens head. My Raven can wreak manland in short order if needed and strong enough for bayonet moves.
