I'm new to Utah and thinking about trading an old 357 revolver of mine for an old used boat thats currently advertised on a classified ad. Does anyone know what the laws are in Utah about trading firearms, in a non ffl transaction with another Utah resident. I don't want to break any laws!
Will a simple Bill of Sale suffice?

No paperwork is required for the handgun. Some may be required for the boat though. Whether you do a bill of sale or not is between you and the buyer. Personally, I don't voluntarily give my personal info to strangers, so I would pass on the sale if a seller insisted upon keeping my info.

Sounds good, thanks! 😊

As long as you have no reason to believe that the recipient of your firearm is a prohibited person, you are free to make a face to face transfer to another resident of the state.

Nothing wrong with a quick phone call to local or state law enforcement and talk to them.
