I bought a lightly used ( far as I can tell ) UTG Compact CQB Scope SCP-M392AOLWG and stuck it on my Sigarms M400 in 223/5.56. I think they call this a "Bugbuster"

It worked really nice at 50 yds, all in the bullseye. Zeroed in quickly and held well. Took it out to 100 yds and 200+ yds and still right on target. Pretty good eye relief and very good field of view and clear picture. It was a pretty sunny day.

I have read that some of these have a tilted reticle, make sure you can return it before you buy one and be sure to check that out before mounting it.
Mine did not have this issue.
Bottom line is for how much I shoot my AR, this will do fine and I have confidence in it.
Mine has a QD mount/rings included which I kept attached, but I put that on top of a 1 pc. riser because my front sight was visible.
The quick detach needs to be tight anyway for mine. I wouldn't trust it unless I really clamped it down and tightened the tiny hex screws as well. This was the only shortcoming, but it comes with the scope.
If I want to switch to my red dot, I just take the riser/rail off and I'm sure it would stay on zero when I change back.

Can't beat this scope for the price. They can be had for less than or around $100.00 new. I was lucky to pay significantly less and got a good one. It looks decent on the rifle too.

Not everything offered by Leapers is bad. In point of fact, the UTG Pro line is actually high quality, US-made stuff. Their imported scope rings are decent, too. But their optics are definitely in the plinker/range toy category. If that's all you're using it for, then no problem. Just realize that it's a cheap optic in every sense of the word.

I like that they are making a compact scope. Lots of carbines look stupid with a huge optic on them, and I applaud utg for making a small scope. I really wish there were some higher end options in that category though.

There are a number of fixed and lower powered variables similar in size (also lighter weight) from Nikon, Leupold, Weaver, Redfield, Vortex, Burris and others. Pretty much every one of those companies make a 2-7x that is an inch or two longer, but a couple ounces lighter.

Personally, I think the Nikon P223 fixed 3x is ideal for carbines, and they're not much more than the UTG thing above.
