If you've been following the news, there was a horrific multiple stabbing murder of four students here in Moscow, Idaho a few weeks ago. Until they arrested a suspect last week things have been tense in town to a point. I have had quite a few people who know me and know I am very pro 2nd A ask me about CCW. (Idaho has Constitutional carry. If you can legally own a gun you can CCW and for God’s sake TAKE COURSES!!!!) I have had quite a few people criticize me for always CCW because "it wouldn't have helped the students". Maybe it wouldn't have. Maybe it would have. We just don't know yet. I have heard a "story" that when the shooter was going from his home to the school that he took pot shots are other people along the way. The story I have heard is that one of the people he shot at was a CCW holder and wasn't carrying that morning and has had to live with that ever since. Is there any truth to this? I would love to be able to use this as an example as too why I always carry for the people who think it won't do any good.

Last I checked, Idaho had zero mass shootings. I guess you aim to keep it that way?

Truth? Sure. Every law abding, gun owning citizen outside the school and present that day could have been armed and either wasn't or didn't do a single thing. On top of that, about 98% of law enforcement didn't do a thing with all their guns either (~400 officers and <8 used discharged their guns).

Carrying for people who think it won't do any good is a fool's errand and really seems to channel Dan McKown from the Tacoma Mall shooting. He carried a gun specifically to protect other people who didn't. He is now a lifetime cripple with associated medical issue and 2 bit comic and motivational speaker.

Carrying for hero purposes of mass shootings is in need of rethinking. Focus more on what is reality. Let's face it, you are more likely to die from getting struck by lighting than being injured in a mass shooting. It is that rare. How many mass shootings have you been in or near in the past? Chances are, the answer is ZERO. You are infinitely more likely to be involved in a robbery, rape or murder (chances are by a family member, friend, or someone you know) than you are to be involved in a mass shooting event.

With that said, let's look at your logic. Your logic is that there was a person, supposedly, in the Uvalde area that could have been carrying and wasn't and will have to live with their their entire lives. Let's move beyond the bloat of nobody witnessing anyone else anywhere near the shooter other than the funerary folks who got shot at when they tried to help the person (shooter) in the car wreck. Given that was the case, are you saying this CC person is a highly skilled ultra long range pistol shooter, or was this person going go be charging in the school with the SRO? As you are wanting to use this as a rationalization for you carrying and maybe could have made a difference, are you saying that you are a highly skilled ultra long range pistol shooter or that you would be charging in the school with the SRO?

Uvalde is a very poor example to suggest making a difference. True or not, the person sounds like Joe Zamudio, trying to be relevant in a situation where they weren't.

So you carry for people who don't think it would do any good. Great. Done any good?

I asked if there was any truth to the story I had heard. That's all. Seems there is not, and that answers my question.

I haven’t seen or heard anything like that and I’m in San Antonio, so I’ve followed a lot of the story. A lot of mistakes were made, but that’s not one of them as far as I know.
