I'm looking at a S&W 586 Nickel finish at about 90% finish. No box or papers. What would the value be? Thanks for all your help.

Well, condition is everything, and I'm not sure what 90% means to all people. But to me, a 90% gun should have only very light handling marks and correct grips.

A nickel 586 does not come along all that often. Around here, anything less than $500 would be a good deal.

It has a light ring on the cylinder and a small ding in the base of the grips. He's wanting $550, but I'll try $500. Thanks.

Around here a M686 will cost you between $500 and $550 so that same price for the much more rare M586 is a fair price IMO.

The M586 is a great revolver although I would much rather is be in the original Blue instead of Nickel...

You know, if it's in good shape and fits in your collection, I don't think I'd walk away for the extra $50. What's that, a couple hours take-home? I have a nickel 4" 586 and I love it. $550 is a good deal.

I'm like the devil sitting on your shoulder.

Thanks everyone. After another round of emails I have found out it is actually blue. Just a bad picture(flash makes it look nickel) which is what i would prefer anyway. Hopefully it will be coming home on tuesday!!

Ditto that!

See if it has an "M" around the serial number in the crane. Most of these were recalled for a rare minor issue, which I do not recall at the moment. Might do some research to be safe or have a bargaining point.
