New or used? If new, that's a very good price. If used - depends on the condition of the gun. If LNIB, sure. If not... caveat emptor!
Also, check out www.gunbroker.com, www.auctionarms.com, www.gunsamerica.com, and other online auction sites, to see what sort of prices sellers are getting for similar guns. That will give you a ballpark figure of what's reasonable.
Hey tlhelmer my friend- here in central Alabama the
price of a NIB SIG-SAUER two-tone P228 would run about
$639.95; but in other locales that price could escalate to
$799, dependent on the dealer? Reason they are able to
set such a price, is because the P228 is a bit harder to get
than the P229. But FWIW even on a P229, $599.00 is an
excellent price!
Yeah... I personally don't have a strong preference between the 228 and the 229... they both feel pretty blocky and top heavy to me but some prefer the 228.
I haven't seen a black or two tone 228 in a while... A couple of the shops have the camo 228. The 228 is a cheaper gun but since they are a bit more scarce, folks can demand a bit higher price than the 229s.
