Vent rib removal on 870 Express?

I was told that an 870 barrel vent rib was silver soldered on, and a bit of time and some MAPP or propane will break the silver solder. So I'm trying it, propane doesn't seem to want to work, MAPP doesn't seem to want to work, and I don't want to get the barrel too hot or damage it.

How should I go about removing the rib? It's a supermagnum 23" barrel and I really want to remove that darned rib. Someone later told me it was brazed on, no idea how to remove it from here.

Price isn't really the question. I want to use this barrel because its 3.5" chamber. They don't make a plain 3.5" short barrel, and I know I can just use a 3" chamber barrel, but I really just want the 3.5" chamber barrel

Leave the rib on there. It's not hurting anything. If you feel you need to put rifle or GR sights on the thing, it's actually an AID to installing the front.

Mostly wanting to remove for aesthetic reasons, plus I just think a plain barrel is nicer. I've hated vent ribs for some reason since childhood. I realize I'm being stubborn .

Remington ribs are induction welded. You will have to cut the rib on each side of the posts and get the post red hot. When it's hot enough, you can twist the post off with channel locks or other heavy pliers. You will have to file and polish the spots left on the barrel and you may end up with small dimples.

I have been asked to do this and I always refuse. No one would be willing to pay enough to cover my time to do this kind of work.
