Greetings fellow accuracy buffs,

I have been enjoying researching the Vepr Hunter semi-auto rifle in 308,
was wondering if any owners could comment on the accuracy of their rifles,
this is is a very appealing, interesting rifle for a fraction of the cost of other similar types of rifles,
it does appear the scopes i have seen mounted ride pretty high, making a cheek weld impossible,
other than that I read mostly positive reports,
appreciate any comments from owners

After having purchased this VEPR I took it to the range today,
nice looking firearm, absolutely reliable with no jams as expected,
however the accuracy was poor, shot about a pie plate at 100 yds, didn't even bother to measure it,
could be it might shoot better with a different load but I'm not hopeful, was using Black Hills match 168 gr,
gonna try another scope mount and try it again, could be some flexing on this mount, we'll see how it goes,
I like the military ladder rear site, however at the lowest setting I shot 6" high

It looks like JG Sales has them for around $1k, is that what they sell for? For that price you can get the FNAR (20" lightweight barrel) in .308 (which I did yesterday), they come with a 1 MOA accuracy gurantee from FN.

I don't think anyone would buy a VEPR expecting match grade accuracy out of it, but honestly I have not handled or seen one of the Hunter models.

Well match grade no, but I was expecting 3 moa or better with their hype and what I have read on the net

I had a 20" Vepr 308 rifle of older production which would consistently shoot 1.75-2 moa. It liked Federal 150 gr. SP blue box ammo. It would also shoot 150 Gr. SST well. I used it to make a neck shot on a doe at about 150 yds. with a red dot sight.

I have a Saiga 308 with a 20" barrel. It isn't a VEPR but accuracy is between 1 and 2 MOA with good ammunition. This is more than tight enough for big game hunting, but for the price of a new VEPR I would be looking towards the AR-10 or generic 308 ARs for accuracy.
