One of the best ways to get robbed in my town is to be walking down the street playing with a cell phone.

You are distracted, the perp knows you have at least a cel phone to steal, and it is over in 30 seconds. Credits to my maid and my wife`s neice for this info!!!

My cell phone, a $38 one, rides in my front pants pocket with my wallet.

Probably the reason he turned himself in was because he had no "street cred" left after having that done to him. Either way he's off the streets.

Sometimes the robber will take your stuff and then shoot you anyways because you saw his face and he doesn't want to be identified. It happens at gas stations all the time.

Kid made the right call. The right technique is important though and it didn't look like a great way to take a gun from somebody.

It looked to me kind of like an aikido self defense move like they taught us at the academy for disarming people with weapons. If they have a knife you just have to have the mentality you're going to get cut. How bad you do depends on you. Same with as fire arm so to speak.

Sent from my mind using ninja telepathy.

It looked like a great way to take the gun away from what I saw.

And to those mentioning that the perp shouldn't have stuck the barrel so close to his face, I know you aren't really trying to give tactical advice to the bad guys out there. (hopefully there aren't any bad guys reading this forum) But it is something to keep in mind in a home defense situation. If you find someone in your home and you are carrying a shotgun, if you are holding him for the police keep the gun a few feet away so he can't grab it from you.

That looks like a textbook failure of the victim selection process.

Some folks are just wired to respond to violence or the threat of violence with violence not submission. In this case it worked out in the favor of the good guy.

Armchair quarterbacking it, it not have been the sanest thing to do but, good lord, I have to admire the speed and aggression with which he responded to the threat.
