Hey all,

I took my 22/45 lite out yesterday to try out my suppressor for the first time. Now, I put a volquartsen accurizing kit in it maybe 2 years ago. Seemed to work fine then. Haven’t shot it much since then. So yesterday it was like the overtravel screw was too far in. Had to really pull hard to fire the gun. I immediately got my allen wrench out and backed that out until it was no longer in contact. This helped some, but the trigger pull is still way above what it should be.

I still had fun at the range popping steel at 100 yards (and 165). But I just don’t know what could be causing the issue. Any ideas? Anyone have this happen too?

I have sent an email to volquartsen as well.

Looking over the Volquartsen accurizing kit, it's pretty straightforward and simple. Since you put it in, then you know how to take it out. I would hazard that a spring has failed or something similar.

Take the Ruger down and find out what's going on.

I don't have any suggestion except what NMexJim has already posted. The MK III is not a difficult pistol the dis and re-assemble----if you still have the owner's manual. Mine requires a rubber mallet to get apart as it's really tight.

Mine is a mk4 so disassembly is pretty easy. There’s probably not even 750 rounds through the gun so I doubt it’s a cleaning issue. But today I cleaned it anyway. It wasn’t that dirty. Also put a tiny bit of oil on the pivots.

So I was playing around with the action with the upper removed. The trigger releases the hammer very easily with the upper off. Don’t worry, I wasn’t letting the hammer fly forward without the upper on. I used my thumb to stop the hammer. Once I put the upper back on, either the trigger will be hard to pull or it will be easy the first few times and then become difficult. This happened several times.

I sent the same info to volquartsen after they asked if I had used their included Disconnector or the ruger one. I know I put all of their parts in very carefully.

This is from a MKIII parts list, but I found it interesting to note that gunparts.com lists the volquartsen new part along with Ruger’s trigger bar (disconnector). Quite a price difference as well. In this instance, it’s difficult to make out if they are the same compounded by the volquartsen looking to have the picture flipped upside down. If you still have all the parts, compare them carefully.

My kit apparently didn’t come with the Volquartsen Disconnector. They now do include it in the kit for the mk4, and for the reason/problem I described above. They were nice enough to ship one to me. Thanks Nic!!!
