Happy Holidays all !

What is the latest with everyones VZ's?
Happy Holidays, BB! Been too busy to shoot a great deal lately, but my VZ is chugging right along. A few thousand rounds in, still no failures that can't be attributed to a lack of ammo. ;) A while back (may have mentioned this before, but I'm too lazy to check) I tightened up the upper forearm to get rid of the rattle, so now the rifle is as solid as a rock, front to back. I can give a brief tutorial on how to perform this simple modification if anyone else has the same problem and is so inclined.

Been wanting a VZ58 for the longest now. Definitely getting the Czechpoint Sporter in January(a post-Christmas gift to myself lol).
Welcome to the club, Quick Shot xMLx! Be sure to give us an update/report after your rifle arrives.

:)

My český is a little rusty, but it was an interesting excerpt nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.

:)

great find bohemus thanks for sharin, if somebody could translate that would be worth reading, but the pics itself says allot. last pic, trying to figure it out....wait a minute either a paintball or airsoft converted vz58

It's a paintball gun, and from the looks of it a "custom" job using an actual carbine (or at least several parts derived from one). :what:

Here is a link to a 50 yard target shot off-hand standing with a VZ2008.

Yes, it is in the thread I linked in the post as well. I was shooting mixed mags of Academy Sports Monarch fmj and Wolf MC HP. They shoot same poa/poi in this rifle.

just some info. concerning the new vz58 in 5.56 which will be offered by czechpoint sometime in january 2012. heres a video clip of the 5.56 but only in a sbr version, we will get the 16". the magwell adapter you see will be available to accept m16 mags, with a push button release, as for the the really short barrel(7") vz in the video, according to dan will be available in pistol only, but we will see the 11" versions first before the 7".

Interesting.... I wonder how it will compare with the Saiga's in .223.

It's common Internet "knowledge" that the Vz.58 is more accurate than an AK in 7.62x39. I wonder if this new Vz.58 in 5.56 will also be between an AK and AR in accuracy.

I imagine that it will be. IMO the key feature that promotes greater accuracy is the short-stroke gas piston design.

Why does the man in the video keep tilting his rifle to the left after firing?

Who would tell this silhouette belongs to vz.58...

Really pleasant rifle to shoot, longer and slightly thicker barrel makes for lower felt recoil and quieter shots. Especially compared to the short .223 on second picture below.

Bohemus, I've never been a big fan of the long bbl'd variants (it negates the weight savings and favorable balance), but I do like the grip. I bet it is very comfortable, as it looks near identical to the one on my DTA-SRS.

:)

Maybe he had 1 too many Margaritas at the San Antonio riverwalk....

..... seriously though his mag is see through plastic, he is checking number of rounds to empty.

=P

Been waiting 3 weeks for this(Czechpoint was backed up from Christmas) but I finally picked it up from my FFL today. So far I have to say I love it. Trigger pull seems nice, grip feels great, it's actually pretty light, pretty compact especially when you fold it. I might paracord the folder for a bit of extra cushion, I guess we'll see how it looks when I do. The fit and finish is fantastic. You can tell it's a quality firearm and not something sloppily thrown together like a WASR(no offense lol). Hopefully I'll get out to the free outdoor range in SC this weekend. Have 6 mags loaded and ready

Welcome to the club, Quick Shot xMLx.

IIRC ifit and I both have paracord on our stocks (though I don't believe mine was previously pictured with it). Personally I believe it is a worthwhile addition to most any wire (or in this case: I-beam) type folder, and looks pretty decent. I've also seen folks use grip tape, and though it probably gives a cushier cheek rest, I'm not fond of the appearance. Here is how mine is currently outfitted:

FWIW, I don't tie mine on either end, but instead prefer to take one tag end and lay in the groove (next to the web of the "beam") about halfway down (on the left hand side) then tightly wrap it until I reach the end (I chose not to cover the angled portion) then tuck the other tag end under the loops (again about to the mid-point) using a dental pick. IME the friction will keep it in place just fine without the need for knots. It makes for a tidier installation and also makes it a bit easier to remove if you find yourself needing a small hank of paracord. BTW, it's best to melt the ends to keep it from unraveling when pulling it with the pick (as well as for general use).

armoredman, how do you like it. It seems most folks either love it or hate it, personally I love mine (on my M-17S), though I'm not a big fan of VFGs and the like.

On a different but related note, I think I have decided to leave mine fairly stock and just swap out the upper handguard (for a Al. rail system in which to mount a co-witnessed Trijicon RMR sight) and possibly add a few other ergonomic features like an ambidextrous safety lever, a copy of that nifty magazine release I see you have on yours, and perhaps a tac. BHO release as well. I've grown to like the Pykrete-esque furniture.

On a completely unrelated note, I haven't abandoned the idea of making 20rnd. magazines, I just haven't had the time to start the project. I'll let you guys know how the project turns out when I get the opportunity to give it a go.

:)
