Got my new APX this week. Of course it had to shoot a little to the right. I needed to adjust the sight a little. Its not very precise to adjust using a punch and a vise so I decided to get a sight tool. Then the next problem, which ones work and which one delivers on promises. Like any tool, I don't mind paying if it does what its supposed to do. From a hammer to a hammer drill. Its got to work. I did some looking around to see what was popular and then onto video reviews. Finally I choose the W Wiregear Sight Tool. When UPS arrived, I ran out to greet him (he's also a shooter and a nice guy).

After retreating to the basement, I opened the box. First off there is nothing to assemble. It is heavy. Heavy enough that it doesn't move about. Figured it out without the instructions, although I did watch a video review. Its not that hard. I took the APX apart (hmmm do you push the button and down with the lever, cocked or uncocked). Figured it out. Uncocked.

Placed the slide in the Sight Tool. Made a few adjustments to make sure it was as straight as possible. Whoops, it was adjusted too low. Adjusted it up a bit. Now we're good to go. Turned the wheel and adjusted the sight just a bit to the left. Right, move it the way you want it to move? There are measurements that help show you it moved. Then again, how far to adjust? I choose to adjust a little. Anyhow the tool did what it is supposed to do, quickly. Wanted to swap out the CZ sights at some point and now I can. The only thing holding me back was I didn't want to hammer them out. Even with a nylon punch, I worried about marks. I considered it too much work. This tool worked for me.

Who uses a sight tool and who uses other methods? I am sold on this and happy with my purchase.

I’ve had this Wiregear Sight Tool for a couple of years now. I usually put blue painters tape over the slide in front of the rear sight to use as a gage. I then mark both edges of the sight with a pencil before I move it. This tells me where the sight was after I remove it or move it as a reference point. I leave the tape on until I’ve completed my test firing and am sure the sight is where I want it.

I’ve found this tool very easy to use and an accurate way to make adjustments. I’ve used it on a number of guns and it has more than paid for itself many times over.

I have been using Maryland Gun Works sight pushers for many years. Originally they offered firearm specific pushers then evolution to their Pro series tool with firearm specific "shoes" that fit into each different slide as well as accessory for angled rear sights e.g. glocks / Sigs. I believe I now have every shoe they offer. Robust, large polymer top compression to prevent slide from lifting during force application. MOdified mine to allow for use with long fiberoptic front sights as well as etched some reference marks with the mill. Always use protective tape on tool, slide and sights.

Wow! That's quite an investment in sight pushing tools.

This Vism pusher has worked well for me. All my semi autos that either needed sights adjusted, or replaced, has fit in this and it has done the job.

Stay safe.

Used the vise to install night sights on my Sig P227. Worked like a champ. Now to work on my CZ75. Oh no, golly gee the front dove tail is sideways. Do they make one to remove those?

Removed my CZ Rear Sight with it today. Night sights should be here very shortly. Wanted to get started. Leave tomorrow for another work trip that will last the week.
