Any ideas what i could be doing wrong? I'm constantly getting 4.2 to 4.1 grains of W231 when I'm using the 4.0 hole on the auto disk. I have run graphite through the hopper and used a dryer sheet to eliminate the possibility of static electricity interfering.

I thought i read that W231 meters well in the auto disk, which is why I'm trying to use it.

According to Lee's book that should get me 4.3 grains.

I'm reloading 9mm with a 115 grain FMJ.

What are you talking about?

4.1 to 4.2 grains, when the Lee chart says it should be 4.3???

That's a huge victory among us reloaders in Lee circles!!
Someone organize a parade down Main Street! Woo Hoo!!!

For most powders, the chart is off by 10 or 20 or 30 percent.
You can hardly complain about a 4% error.

Use your scale to set up your Pro Auto Disk every time.
Ignore the chart. You will be happier about the outcome.

If I'm using the .4 hole, it just seems to much to go to the .43 hole. I don't have it right in front of me, but I'll have to check the next size up. It just seemed too big a jump to get 4.3 grains.

Is the adjustable charge bar worth getting for use with W231?

When you read that W231 meters well that generally means that it meters consistently. If you get the micrometer charge disk (or whatever they call it) W231 will meter accurately as well. If it's constantly dropping 4.1 to 4.2 grains I'd say it's metering well and wouldn't worry about not getting the 4.3, but that's just me.

Like the others have said, the metering holes for the Lee powder measure will get you close, not an exact charge for each powder listed. W231 is one of the better powders for matching up with the chart. Some powders are not even close.

For use with my Pro Auto-Disk Powder Measure I bought:
An Adjustable Charge Bar (Part #90792)
A Micro Disk (Part #90302)
A Double Disk Kit (Part #90195)

If it did it over I would buy the adjustable charge bar and micro disk again but not the double disk kit. I feel the double disk kit is a waste of money when you have the other two tools. I actually bought the double disk because I wanted to throw rifle charges but that still didn't help so I bought a Lee Perfect Powder Measure for my rifle powder charges.

Just a wild thought here. Has any one tried making a custom disk for the the Lee Auto disk by filling in the existing holes with body putty or epoxy glue then carefully drilling out to get the drop they wished or required? Just a thought!

Or I guess you could buy the Micro dish and ream the holes for your own requirements.
