"Waffenfabrik" K.31

I was looking through Simpson Ltd. today looking at K.31s and they have some that are designated "waffenfabrik" K.31s, like this one here:

Now, far as I can figure, "waffenfabrik" means "gun maker/manufacturer", but that isn't very helpful. Serial number range suggests it was made in 1941 for the military supply system, so that would rule out some of the private requisitions.
Anyone run across one of these creatures before?

It's a Swiss Karabiner Model 1931 or "K31", also called Schmidt-Rubin K31 as well.

Waffenfabrik means "arms factory" and was the manufacturer.

look behind the buttplate. You might find the name of the solider who was issued the rifle. With that name, and the serial, I might give you the full history of your rifle.
