I just recieved my new LNL AP and I can't for the life of me get the EZ ject to work.
I followed the manual and video to the tee. When it comes to eject, the retainer spring falls into the ejector grove of the 45 ACP round and flips the spring off the shell plate.
The retainer spring does not fall into the relieved area of the SUB Plate.
They say to cycle the press while pushing the retainer spring into the relieved area, but i have done that a 100 times and still does not work.
I have the # 45 shell plate for the 45 ACP
The Sub Plate does't seem to be relieved enough for the spring to drop down.
I am not new to reloading, been doing it for a long time.
If this is the NEW EZ ject system, they need to go back to the drawing board.
They are out for the weekend so I can't get any help form Hornady till Mon.
Thanks Guys.:banghead:

If you could post some pictures it would help. Have you used a LNL AP before? Basically you want to put the shell plate on and then the spring. Index it a few times while pushing down on the spring. Which sounds like you have already done. It should not be difficult. So pictures would help all see the real cause.

Yep. Pics would help.

With some caliber shell plates the spring goes in right away, with others it takes a round or two, and with at least one, it needs a bit of a push.

Let me go try them.

OK:

.38/.357 takes a couple of pulls of the handle for the spring to drop in.

.44 Spl/Mag takes 5 or 6 pulls of the handle for the spring to drop in.

.22 Hornet takes one pull of the handle for the spring to drop in.

.45 ACP (shellplate #1) took a couple of pulls of the handle for the spring to drop in.

.45 Colt took a little push from my fingertip for the spring to drop in.

.41 Mag took a little push from my fingertip for the spring to drop in.

My 9mm/.38 Super & my .223/.380 plates have yet to be modified, so I can't try them.

My .32 ACP, .32 Short/Long/Mag & .40 plates are at Hornady, so I can't try them either.

Gone to a Biscuits game. (AA Tampa Bat affiliate) See Ya'll later. AC

Guys, do you think the spring is to tight?
As you can see the retainer spring falls in the ejector grove of the round every time. also the spring does not fall down into the Sub Plate relief

You did get try to get the spring into the groove before putting a shell in, right?

How about a pic without the shellplate on.

I'll check it out when I get home, if Wilburt hasn't already solved it for you. AC

Walkalong, yup, tried everything just as the manual and video says, it's just like the spring is too tight and can't fall into the relief of the Sub Plate.

I got it! I streched the spring ever so slightly then it went in the grove and it works like a champ, thanks guys you are the greatest.
I guess I'm still learning after all these years.:)

Yup, been loading for 52 years , still learning, one of the things that keeps me young-----well, then there is one other thing:evil:

When I install the spring, I rotate the shell plate by hand (ram at bottom) and guide the spring into the slot. It takes about 2 index positions to do this. This works for 380 9mm and 357mag

And for .45.

This is the same method I use.

I use the handle, I just don't run it all the way to the top. 1/3 of the way will do it.
